This 19th-century French burr walnut pedestal desk is the kind of piece that instantly anchors a room. Crafted around 1860–1880, it combines beautifully figured burr walnut with finely cast gilt bronze ormolu mounts, giving it both richness and architectural presence.

The elegant inverted breakfront top frames its original gilt-tooled leather writing surface, still showing a gentle patina that speaks to its history. With seven drawers, oak linings with hand-cut dovetail joints, and the original pen and stationery divider, it perfectly balances decorative presence with practical function.

Finished on all sides with inlaid burr walnut panels, the desk can stand freely at the centre of a study, library or office, where its scale and craftsmanship can truly be appreciated.
