The benefits of working part time at university and with students making their final collections, allows you to revisit your own work. Here’s a photograph of one of my menswear collection pieces from 1995 . I was looking at the changing roles of masculinity and gender before we had labels for gender neutral or gender fluid. Clothes are clothes, they need no labels. Be happy wearing what makes you feel comfortable.

Having to say goodbye to this lovely woman was one of the hardest things I have had to do.
Eileen was more than a client, she became a very dear friend and I will miss her cheeky wee smile and her enthusiasm for life.

She and her sister Wilma were with me right at the start and were strong supporters of my label and of me. I will never forget the words of strength and kindness she gave me when my dad passed away.

Eileen would always make me laugh during her fittings, coming every year for her evening dress for the Meningitis Ball, doing amazing work for the charity she set up. The first photograph shows Eileen receiving her MBE at Buckingham Palace.

You were a true angel in life Eileen, one of a kind.

My deepest condolences to her family, especially to Hugh, her husband and Wilma.

Before and After shots

Having been in the studio now for 2 months, I felt something wasn’t right with the position of my machines. I took time out from work over the weekend to sort out my working space. I am much happier with my main machine in the centre and my new supporting table gives me more room for my larger garments! Have a great week everyone 😊
