Introducing ‘The Obsidian Wave’ a fabulous saucer shaped hatinator in ‘Antique Moss’ sinamay. I’ve used black pleated crin to extend and soften the edge of the piece and have hand sculpted waves of the pleated crin over the surface of the hat. The waves extend to the back of the hat. (I always like to give people standing behind you something nice to look at!)

She’s just the perfect hat for summer weddings and ladies day at the races and is the latest hat to be added to my website.

Thanks again to the amazing .ja.ro for the photography

I might finally be getting the hang of this website malarkey. After taking forever to get 1 product listed today I managed to add another 2 and it was definitely easier this time.

I know have 2 pieces from my signature ‘Spike the Hat’ collection listed.

‘Pretty in Spike’ is a bandeau style and is made from cerise sinamay with gold spikes. She gets her name from the song that was in my head while I was making her.

‘Spike the Thistle’ is a round button style and is made from purple sinamay and silver spikes. She gets her name because I think she looks like a thistle!

These are fabulous hats for all occasions from drinking cocktails to concerts, and from weddings to Ladies Days.

My brain is buzzing and fizzing away with ideas after another fabulous event at the ICC in Birmingham on Friday. This years theme was ‘Resilience Rocks’ and we had a fabulous line up of speakers. Most inspiring of all was WOW what a remarkable person who has achieved so much. (I was too busy listening to her to take a photograph!) Thank you and for our

It’s always great to catch up with my business buddies in real life. We spend all year supporting each other and our businesses online and it’s great to get one day a year when we can all get together in real life. Again I was much too busy chatting to get photographs with everyone. Special shout outs to my local business support buddy and travelling companion and to my fellow Milliner in a Mill for being thoroughly awesome people and being the best at providing advice and encouragement when it’s needed by this little milliner.

It was great to do my first workshop of the year the afternoon as part of the 2026 Feel Good February programme. This year’s fabulous felt flower was a felt rose and I had a fantastic group of ladies learning to make them with me.

Following my demonstration explaining how to make the roses, and after everyone had selected their felt colour, we had a fun time of chatter and crafting and by the end of the afternoon everyone had made their own unique and beautiful rose.

Thank you all so much for coming along this afternoon - I hope you had as much fun as I did and I hope you make many more flowers with your pattern pieces.

Thank you to Amanda from The butterfly room for dealing with the organisation and bookings for the event today and keeping us topped up with tea, coffee and cake.

And thank you to Catherine from WHAT IF Paisley Ltd for hosting the workshop. I absolutely love the workshop space at What If?It’s such a brilliant venue and it always feels like I’m at home when I work there.

Hattie Christmas Everyone x

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my little business during 2025. Whether I’ve made you hats to wear; or you’ve recommended me to your friends; or you’ve come to a workshop; or shared my posts on social media please know that from the bottom of my heart I appreciate having you along with me on my adventures in millinery.

Hat HQ is now closed for the year, I’ll return in January a year older and raring to go making magnificent millinery for you to wear during 2026 and beyond.

(Those of you that’s know me know I have a ‘thing’ for swans and the picture is one of my favourite swan pics taken in Barshaw Park)

I’m a day late posting this but a huge congratulations to Paisley’s own Saint Mirren for their League Cup win on Sunday.

When I was considering moving my business to Paisley I made one of my signature ‘Spike the Hats’ in black and white and called it ‘Spike Mirren’!

It might make a lovely Christmas gift for the Saints fan in your life (I know shameless marketing post masquerading as a congratulations!) and it’s available from my studio in Paisley.

Not sure what gift to give to a hat lover?

This Christmas, give a gift that will transform into something as unique as the person you’re buying for.

A Susie Rodgers Millinery Gift Voucher lets your loved one enjoy the luxury of having a bespoke piece of millinery made for them or they can choose to buy one of my ready-to-wear pieces.

A thoughtful, meaningful and stylish present that lasts far beyond the festive season.

Have a ‘Beret’ Christmas and give yourself or someone special the gift of a hug for your head with a cosy beret.

Join me at WHAT IF Paisley Ltd in Moss Street Paisley on 15th November at 1pm. During this 3 hour workshop I’ll show you some of my favourite ways to turn a plain beret into a chic accessory for the cold winter months. Will you choose to decorate your beret with felt flowers, sequin butterflies, beading, embroidery or a combination of all four. By the end of the workshop you’ll have created something unique and beautiful.

There will be a selection of beret colours for you to choose from but if you book before 31 October you can specify the colour you would like. Click here to book https://www.whatifpaisleyltd.com/product-details/product/beretdecorating and I look forward to creating with you in November.
