When I left school oh too many years ago now to remember my first job was in a sewing factory in my home town of Glenrothes, Fife making silk shirts & blouses for Harrods, Wax Jackets for Barbour among other leading trade names. Along the way in different companies I have made ballet shoes to children's kilts, even had a personal order for heavy duty oven gloves for Mothers Pride in Kirkcaldy. I m
oved down South must be coming up for 17yrs now, I have had a range of careers from Nursing, Estate Agent, to Reception/Administrator in a Zoo, to Care Coordinator. I have recently moved to the tranquil life of the countryside in Somerset with my wonderful husband, who through his love and encouragement of my creative side Tartan Dachshund started to form. The name Tartan Dachshund came from my love of two things, firstly I absolutely love all things Tartan & Tweed not only for the beautiful fabrics and colours but because it reminds me of my roots, all of my family and friends in Scotland, I love Tweed fabrics because it is not perfect it shows it flaws although small throughout the fabric, to me that shows strength. Secondly Dachshund well anyone that knows me knows I m obsessed with Dachshunds, even more so when after years of searching finally found my little lady Daphne. Over the past couple of years I have toiled with the idea of do I or don't I let others see my passion for making things. Again through wonderful support, encouragement and love of my family and friends here I am today writing this and making my first steps towards my new venture.
