One of the wonderful things about our annual exhibition and indeed one of the reasons we have the exhibition annually is to see things like our beginners quilts together and to see how colour affects the design. These beautiful beginners quilts were hung together so you can see just that.

Aren’t our students wonderful, and amazingly talented?

We have been teaching this beginners project since we started the first shop and we still believe it is a wonderful project that teaches different techniques and leads to patchwork confidence.

Please admire just how wonderful our beginners are. And contemplate that if these are their beginners projects just what will they produce and show next year?

We have been very busy here today - well we’re really busy every day, but…..

We have made up these beautiful “Blooming Day and Night” quilt packs by Jason Yenter. A stunning applique quilt, with a finished block size of 12” and a finished quilt size of 70 1/2” x 87 1/2”.

With comprehensive full colour pattern, and all fabric to make the front (plus binding) for £220.

Neatly packaged (the comedy errors assembling the pizza boxes will stay with us for a long time!) and ready to be enjoyed or posted?

Our exhibition really was something else. I’ve included a couple of photos of the charity quilts and the challenge in the church entries, the final bag was what we delivered to Maggie’s on Tuesday (well what was in the boot, there was quite a lot more on the back seats). I will get more photos uploaded over the next few weeks.

Had a lovely day out yesterday with the ever fabulous Julie, where we dropped off a quilt or two to Maggie’s in Dundee (and they will then go on to TCCL). After a tasty lunch at the Railway carriage in Dundee we then stopped off to pick up some more fabric for the next Quiltathon which we’re plotting - watch this space.

This quilt was mentioned by one of our visitors in my previous post. This absolutely stunning, amazing, beautiful (I could keep going!) quilt is sensational. Following a pattern that was purchased in Canada, and made using the shops (Marys’ Patch) selection of plains, this wall hanging is fantastic and the detailed quilting is exceptional. We played around with a pieced border, but that detracted from the beauty of the maple leaf. The original designer uses a flash of red in a border as her signature and the red narrow border felt absolutely right.

Quilted using 1000m of thread.

Again another superlative- this is an exceptional quilt and I hope it’s now hanging pride of place in the recipients house.

I’be just realised that my “thank you” message doesn’t seem to have loaded. I am so sorry, I would never take my amazing community for granted.

So here goes. Thanks to everyone who gave up their time and energy in getting this years exhibition organised and “staffed”. Thanks to Jaci and Sue, who came in during the week before and attached bindings and hanging sleeves.

Thanks to Pauline, Fiona, Julie, Richard and Mike who helped set up the exhibition. Thanks to Theresa who helped set up the church early on Saturday morning. Thanks to Elaine, Annette, Caroline (and family) who helped with the teas and coffees. Thanks to the above who helped with the everything else, and to Hilary, Fiona, Lorna (and lady from Errol church) who helped with the raffle.

Thanks to Moyra who battled through all the drama with the quilting and who then announced enough was enough and she wanted to sort out the planters….

To “the other Mary” and my long suffering young assistant (son), who help all through the year and have to try to reign in some of my wilder ideas……

And finally to my amazing students whose wonderful work you all admired.

I thank you all, you are amazing and next year will be even better….

Apologies to anyone I haven’t named in person, my brain still hasn’t quite come back down and I’m having to wean myself off caffeine and adrenaline!

I will post the total raised and raffle details next week.
