Gosh it's been a busy few weeks here at Twillys.

We have taken our last prom dress today for this season. So glad the 7am starts and 10pm finishes are coming to an end.

This vintage 1970s German flying jacket, needed some major restoration. New ribbed cuffing at collar cuffs and hem, and repairs to the lining.

Lola says she is fed up with overtime everyday. But was very gracious and grateful for her treats from a very kind lady we gave prom dress advice to.
Almost the end of the week so having a nice cold drink in the late afternoon sun.

Wow what an busy prom season we are having, but please don't forget we have a cut off date of the 22nd of May for alterations to prom dresses. Some stunning dresses have been in and gone back to young ladies, some have been challenging, with a few having around 6 layers to be hemmed, please be aware these take considerable time to measure and pin, then to cut and hem. This dress was fairly easy with just 3 layers.

We have also embellished the Town Criers new summer frock coats, Faye and Martin, we're hugely appreciative of something a lot more lightweight for the warmer days to come. And they are a huge benefit to the wonderful town of Petersfield, making people smile and brightening the Town wherever they go, as well as visiting other towns promoting Petersfield and all its amazing small businesses as a great place to shop and visit.

Nice to get together with other independant businesses in Petersfield and support each other

We had a really productive Traders Association meeting last night. Big thank you to Dom and Annie Jones for hosting (Dom was there too - but took the photo!). The local independent traders meet up regularly to chat about how things are going, how we can support each other and what things can be improved.

Topics discussed last night included late night opening, the A-boards in the Square and producing a new Shop Local brochure (after the huge success of the previous two versions).

It was really lovely for so many of us to get together and chat, and everyone went away very positive which is great!

Busy busy busy ! Prom and bridesmaid dresses everywhere. Popped in Sew Creative last week after work, oops another new machine. Anyone interested in crafts or sewing, I dare you to pop into their new shop on Station Road and come out empty . It's such a lovely bright and cheerful shop, and the ladies really go out of their way to help and advise. Today (Monday) is my day off so popped down to our shop to have a play and get used to the new machine, 5hrs later and I managed to check out all the great features on my new machine, and caught up on some work. And managed to get my zip stock into some sort of order.

What a busy fun filled week we have had. Reopened on Friday after having to have essential flooring work. Lots of hems, zips and jeans in. A lovely visit from the Town Crier and her deputy to collect his jacket that we added some embellishments to, you can never have enough bling. Linen trousers we lengthened by hand with a false hem . And some badges for one of our brave service men/women about to deploy to a hot conflict zone. Just a few of the things we have worked on this week.

When bringing something in for shortening, we can fit it in the shop, but sometimes clients bring them in already marked to required length. We have seen it all, safety pins, staples, paperclips and even cut off ! We don't mind if you want to mark the length at home, but we do recommend that using a pin only place it through 1 layer, as sometimes the pins can damage the fabric and even leave visible holes. This one was a new one but actually quite effective

No 2 days are the same here at Twillys, we often get asked what do you do, well it's more case of what we don't do, which is curtains and upholstery. But this week we were hemming bridal gowns in the morning, and in the afternoon putting replacement zips into armoured motorcycle jackets. Absolutely shocking hems from M&S jeans, where 1 leg was shorter than the other by 1cm, now all nicely shortened and same length. Badges and insignia for serving personnel (these we do for free thanking them for their bravery). And what do I do with my 1 day off, well thats easy pattern tracing, to make myself some new tops.

Phew what a busy week at Twillys last week. Wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and prom dresses, all ready to go back to clients, and another motorcycle jacket with a new zip, just a few of our many alterations.

Just a reminder May 19th is the last day we will take any prom work.

Oh what a wonderful start to a dreary day
How kind of the client to take the time to write a thankyou note, it's those personal touches on both sides that makes this so worth it.
