We honestly couldnโt be more grateful or proud to have been featured on BBC Wales News following our win of The Greats Gift Retailer of the Year. To have our small, independent Welsh boutique recognised on such a prestigious platform is a truly surreal moment for us. What makes it even more special is knowing that this achievement shines a light not only on Kookoo Madame, but on independent retailers everywhere who work tirelessly, passionately and often against the odds to keep their businesses and our high streets thriving.
Retail is tough. Really tough!!! Behind the pretty shop windows, new collections and smiling faces are long days, rising costs, challenging trading conditions and the constant uncertainty of running a small business. But we keep showing up because we genuinely believe our high streets matter. We believe in creating places where customers can browse, discover something different, chat to familiar faces and feel part of their local community. Every day we open our doors, we are doing our little bit to keep the high street alive. ๐ซถ
Our win belongs to our customers too ๐งโ๐งโ๐งโ๐ง Without the people who choose to walk through our doors, buy from us, recommend us, share our posts and continue to support us both in-person and online, none of this would be possible. We are incredibly proud to be an independent business, and we hope our story reminds people just how much their spending choices can make a difference. When you shop small, you arenโt simply buying a product, you are helping someoneโs dream, supporting local jobs and helping keep a little piece of your community alive. ๐
So, our biggest plea is this: please shop small, shop local and support what is on your doorstep before you lose it. ๐ Look at the independent shops, cafรฉs, boutiques, salons and businesses in your town and give them a chance before heading straight to the big names online. We know we canโt compete with global organisations on size, but we can offer passion, personal service, individuality and a genuine connection to our community. Thank you to BBC Wales News for sharing our story, and thank you to every single person who continues to believe in independent retail. Letโs keep our high streets alive and letโs do so together. ๐๐๐
