Hainsworth has been responsible for weaving the look of Iconic England ever since the company was established in 1783. Many of the famous images that have been used across the world to celebrate Great Britain are made unforgettable through the use of Hainsworth cloth including the Striking Scarlet of the Royal Guards, the ceremonial uniforms worn by the Royal Family during state occasions and the

military uniforms worn during the Charge of the Light Brigade. True Craftsmanship starts with the selection of the best possible fibres, a knowledge and skill passed down through the Hainsworth family over 235 years. We carefully select only the best quality fleeces from Britain, Australia and New Zealand, matching the fleece and fibre qualities to the end use of the fabric ensuring a truly beautiful finish that no other mill can match. Every single one of our 235 years of experience is apparent in the weave quality of the fabrics that leave our mill. Through the generations we have learnt the best way to craft cloth to make it perfect for its specific end use, be it apparel, furnishings or wall coverings. We control the weave all the way down to the placement of individual fibres within the construction to ensure we optimise the benefits to the end application including, lustre, handle, durability and drape.

Our final project in collaboration with London College of Fashion is a powerful exploration of culture, tradition and textile artistry.

Created by Yanenyu Jiang (BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring) and Kuang Ting Huang (BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles: Embroidery), the collection reflects on the beauty and complexity of arranged marriages in China during the 1990s, using fashion as a medium for storytelling and cultural reflection. The lily flower, a symbol of pure love, features throughout the collection, while intricate red beadwork represents the emotional sacrifice and hardship experienced by many women. Together, these thoughtful details create garments that are both visually captivating and deeply symbolic.

Every piece in the collection is crafted using our Doeskin fabric in White, brought to life through laser cutting, hand and machine embroidery, and meticulous beadwork. The result is a striking demonstration of how traditional tailoring and textile techniques can convey powerful narratives.

It's been a privilege to collaborate with the talented students at London College of Fashion and see our British-made fabrics transformed into such thoughtful, innovative collections. We look forward to seeing where their creativity takes them next.

The fifth project in our collaboration with the London College of Fashion explores the fascinating relationship between perception, structure and illusion.

Created by Toran Murray-Preece (BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring), the collection draws inspiration from the geometric folds of origami and the transformative qualities of airbrushed colour, reimagining tailoring as a dynamic visual experience. Influenced by artists who manipulate light and physical phenomena, Toran's work challenges the way we perceive form. Through precise tailoring, strategic colour placement and complex pattern cutting, garments appear to shift, refract and distort, creating striking three-dimensional effects that blur the line between reality and illusion.

Crafted using Hainsworth Bespoke Worsted Double cloth, the collection explores advanced Jacquard double and triple cloth techniques alongside structured tailoring to achieve sculptural, folded forms inspired by origami.

The fourth project in our collaboration with London College of Fashion celebrates the intersection of performance, storytelling and textile craftsmanship.

Created by Meaghan Newhouse (BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring), the collection is inspired by the simulated band The Visitors, blending painting, textile design and bespoke tailoring to create garments that become part of the performance itself.
Designed to be as joyful to wear as they are to look at, each piece combines expressive storytelling with innovative textile techniques, resulting in a collection that is both visually striking and full of character.

To realise this vision, Meaghan worked with Hainsworth Bespoke Worsted Double cloth, exploring Jacquard double and triple cloth techniques before adding hand-painted highlights to create richly layered surfaces with depth, movement and individuality.

Our third London College of Fashion collaboration highlights the powerful storytelling that can be woven into cloth.

Created by Laal Avgambayeva (BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring), the project explores the transition from girlhood to womanhood, using bespoke Jacquard weaving as a language of emotional, physical and psychological transformation. Drawing on the biblical story of Salome, the collection uses layered woven imagery to depict moments of confrontation, desire and rejection. Designed with deliberate ambiguity, the textiles invite the viewer to interpret themes of vulnerability, identity and the complexities of human connection.

To bring this vision to life, Laal worked with Hainsworth Bespoke Worsted Double cloth, combining digital artwork with double cloth Jacquard design to create textiles that are as expressive as the garments themselves.

The second project in our partnership with London College of Fashion celebrates the power of British storytelling, craftsmanship and textile innovation.

Created by Fay Thorburn (BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring) and Pippa Wilson Autzen (BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles: Embroidery), the project draws inspiration from the British folklore of Gog and Magog, reimagining myth, tradition and identity through a contemporary approach to bespoke tailoring.

Influenced by the rich heritage of Welsh quilting, the collaboration combines intricate floral embroidery with expertly tailored silhouettes, creating garments that honour traditional techniques while offering a fresh creative perspective.

We're proud to see our fabrics play a part in bringing this vision to life. The embroidered trousers are crafted from our Marble Melange fabric in Charcoal, while the quilted and embroidered coat is made using our 100% Merino Worsted Whipcord in Charcoal – showcasing the versatility, quality and enduring heritage of British-made textiles.
