After running my own business for years as a hairstylist I'm finding it really hard to now sit down and do nothing after a terrible illness has completely changed my life. Now i'm wheelchair and oxygen therapy reliant I needed to think about what I can do to fill my time. So i have decided to put my creative skills and a GCSE in textiles to good use by restoring and reselling vintage inspired dres
ses and clothing. I love all things old and pretty from the 20th century. I also love how a certain trend will take you back to a particular decade. My absolute favourite if i had to choose is the 1950's It was far enough after WW2 that fabric rationing had finished in 1949. We took full advantage after a decade of make do and mend with women opting for fuller skirts with big fluffy petticoats. I love looking at pictures of my nan and granddad, who used to attend dinner dances, my nanny Mary in full skirts and a beehive and my grandad David with his teddy boy quiff. My mum and dad met in the 1970's mum with her flicky hair and dad with his long hair and flares. you can date them just by the wedding photo's. my favorite brands are always the more feminine or slightly outrageous. I love Dior for the dresses and scarves although I could never fit in or afford one myself. To Cath Kidston Ted Baker and for shoes Irregular choice and anything a bit quirky. I still love a good vintage hair up. but my days of doing that professionally are over. I'm hoping most of you stay with me for my new venture as i've really enjoyed your company over the last 27 years. Just be patient while I get my bearings # # #
