We’re going on a book hunt!

We are so excited to be sponsoring some books for this year’s brilliant Book Hunt by Lucy’s Little Library.

From 25th July to 5th September, over 2,000 children’s books will be hidden all across the Hoo Peninsula for little explorers to find. They can take them home, enjoy them, and either keep them or re-hide them for another child to discover 🥰

I have always loved reading and it’s something I've passed on to our daughters - so being part of something that helps other children discover that same love is really special to me.

Honestly, we just think this is such a lovely idea. Helping children build confidence, creativity, and a love of stories in such a fun way.

Keep your eyes peeled… you never know where a book might pop up 👀

One of our repeat sponsors Battle Sector X are turning 10 this weekend!

They have a fab deal on Sunday 3 games of lasertag for just £10, I HIGHLY recommend giving it a go. It’s so much fun 🤩

I’m sure some of you will remember the books that they sponsored the last 2 years also contained vouchers in for free lasertag. So thoughtful 💛

They also have a fond place in my heart as I got my first job there at 16 🙈 the owners are truly so lovely, I promise you won’t be disappointed if you give them a visit 🙌🏼

Just a little appreciation post! ✨

Although I haven’t officially started promoting for this year, I just want to give a little appreciation post to 4 Elms Group 💙

They were our biggest sponsor in 2024 and have this year also just agreed to sponsor a whopping 430 books for local children to find and enjoy! ☺️

I’m sure you will all remember back to covid times they kept their prices as cheap as possible for us and yet again during the current crisis they are the cheapest around.

They really do care about our community and here at Lucy’s Little Library are SO grateful for everything you do!

I’m wondering if any of my lovey customers can help me get some money that I am owed? 😞

I supplied hundreds of books for a local Santa’s grotto in December. Spent hours wrapping them up every chance I could get around a clingy 3 month old and 2 year old, but sadly they still haven’t paid half of the money they owe me.

I stupidly agreed they could pay half up front and half after delivery, my fault for being so trusting! But it’s now been 5 months and I’m getting absolutely nowhere. I’m a small business and really need that money, and cannot afford to be taking them to court so I’m a bit lost at what to do next. I didn’t want to do this but feel I’ve got no choice.

Please if anyone could advise, I’d really appreciate it ❤️

I’m just finalising the last few sponsors and then I will start promoting this years book hunt next week 🙌🏼

As well as covering the Hoo Peninsula, this year we’re branching out to Gravesend and Maidstone, with 2 other possible locations too 👀 stay tuned to find out more!

I don’t know what to call this years hunt though! The last few years it’s been Look for a book in Hoo but I don’t know whether to change it as it’s not just in Hoo?!

Any ideas are welcome - if I use your idea you’ll get a book and a chocolate bar for helping 😅 so do comment below!

More info will be coming next week as there’s quite a few changes this year but I still want it to be fun and appreciate all of your feedback 💛

📚💖 BOOK HUNT UPDATE – PLEASE READ 💖📚

As many of you know, over the last 2 years I’ve hidden over 2,000 books around Hoo Peninsula 🌳📖 Parks, trees, paths… all tucked away in plastic wallets for everyone to enjoy.

This year, I really want to do it again — but with a few important changes.

👉 The books I usually use are currently out of stock except under 5s category. I have 250 books ready to go, but the others will have to be different titles and more expensive, which means there would be slightly fewer books hidden than previous years.

Unfortunately, I’ve also had issues with people taking all the books in one go (some even bringing bags), which really spoils the fun for others 💔

So I’m considering a new idea this year…

✨ Instead of hiding physical books, I could hide BOOK TOKENS ✨
These would still be hidden in parks, trees etc — but instead of a book, you’d find a token which could be redeemed for a book at a local place in Hoo (for example, Five Bells – nothing confirmed yet) or I’ll deliver you one.

This would:
✔️ Stop people clearing everything at once
✔️ Keep it fair
✔️ Still keep the magic of the hunt alive

Before I make any decisions, I’d LOVE your thoughts 💬
