I absolutely love the detail on this gown.

The delicate lace and those beautiful shoulder bows add such a lovely softness, while still making a real statement.

For me, it’s always the little details that make a dress special.

I love being able to work with these details during an alteration and make sure everything sits beautifully...

Look what our Little Makers made!

Two very proud students showing off their finished Scotty dogs, made completely by them with help from mum.

Same project, two very different little Scotty dogs, and that’s what makes these sessions so much fun.

I think we can agree, they did a pretty brilliant job.

We do love a dramatic train at Laura Amy's.

And this one definitely understood the assignment.

There’s just something about a gorgeous train that makes a dress feel that little bit extra, especially when it falls and moves this beautifully.

but It still needs to work for the actual wedding day too, so getting the fit and finishing just right and adding a bustle makes all the difference to the brides comfort on the day.

Sometimes, more really is more.

A few small alterations can completely transform how a dress feels.

Before on the left. After on the right.

The bodice has been carefully reshaped for a much more flattering fit, while a few inches have been taken in at the back, all without changing the style or character of the dress.

The result isn't a different dress. It's the same dress, made to fit the bride beautifully.

That's what good alterations should do. Enhance the fit so all you notice is how effortlessly the dress suits you.

Little Makers Scotty dogs part One..

This week we made our very own Scotty dogs, and I honestly love seeing how differently each one turns out.

There were lots of giggles, lots of concentration, and plenty of proud smiles as everyone brought their little dogs to life.

Watching their confidence grow as they learn new sewing skills is such a joy.

I can't wait to share what we get up to in Part Two.
