Its with a very heavy heart that I have decided to close my business, I have studied all the governments guidelines and cannot see a way of being able to support you all with your sewing whilst keeping 2 or even 1 metres distance. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with you all but for now it's time to put health first. I wish you all happy sewing and we may meet in the future once there is a vaccine available.

Good morning all I thought I'd have a catch up and see how you are doing during lockdown, we are doing well and have fallen into this comfortable routine but I was thinking about holiday time and whether we would be able to go on holiday this year, for us our Australia trip is on hold so I'm planning a staycation because the planning of a holiday is as much fun as actually going on one. So we have chosen either the last week in June or first week in July depending on the weather. There will be minimal housework done, watering only on the allotment, try a new recipe every day (as if you are going out for a meal), preferably from around the world, when we go for a walk we have to bring back a souvenir even if its just a stone or pebble, visit National Trust parks (as they are open now) and buy postcards to send to family and friends, visit local friends for coffee or afternoon tea (gardens only) and the odd fakeaway meal. I hope you don't think I'm crazy but it has been such fun.
Let me know what you think

Here we are in isolation, Happy Mothers Day to all Mums everywhere. I had breakfast/afternoon tea with one of my daughters and granddaughter. Both my girls live in Australia.
I have cleaned my car inside and out, planted some Lupins, Sweet William, Delphiniums and pumpkin seeds, we cut a big branch off of our Rowan tree and tired some of the flower beds. So isolation hasn't been so bad today.

I thought I would share my Christmas surprise with you. This year I had wanted to buy a handmade advent calendar from some of my YouTube friends but always seem to miss out so my husband (John) put one together for me it was a complete surprise. Every day I would be left a posit note with a cryptic message and I had to go on the hunt, (slightly childish I know). This is what I found:
Day 1. Christmas story novel
Day 2. Hand sewing repair needles
Day 3 Santa candle
Day 4 Allium bulbs
Day 5 Tacky Santa keyring (his words not mine)
Day 6 Post it notes (he used all mine)
Day 7 Sew It Together mug (my logo)
Day 8 Machine twin needle
Day 9 Macramé cup and saucer bird feeder
Day 10 Hand sewing needles
Day 11 Costa coffee gift card
Day 12 Embroidery needles
Day 13 Machine needles for leather
Day 14 Paper pot maker for planting seeds
Day 15 Machine needles for sewing denim
Day 16 A fat quarter pack of fabric
Day 17 Machine needles for jersey fabric
Day 18 Spring bulbs
Day 19 Wooden Christmas house
Day 20 Bird feeder
Day 21 Seeds for bird feeder
Day 22 Kitchen timer
Day 23 Luggage strap
Day 24 Picture for two photos for my grandchildren
And there you have it I was totally amazed I didn’t think he listen to me. Id better be careful what I wish for in future
Hope you didn’t find this boring
Happy New Year to you all

I thought I would update you on what I've been making lately. The Laura Linney dress was a great success I used Vogue 9076, I shortened the sleeves to make them 3/4 and I think it worked. Then I made a denim jacket using B6516 which I lengthened the sleeves to full length so I could turn them up (yes I know strange) I also made V8577 which I took out the gathers at the back as it would have made the skirt too full for me (my preference). I have made my granddaughter a dress and a hat for her first birthday, a swimming bag and a laundry bag plus other little projects for the classes I teach. I'm now going to start two Teepees for both my grandchildren. It feels like a busy but enjoyable year. Hope you enjoy this post.

Its been ages since I posted anything, not sure where the time has gone but I've been very busy creating new classes, but I do have two things to show you, firstly one of my ladies made her grandson a pair of pyjamas so I had to jump on that bandwagon and made a pair for my little Beau. Then my daughter asked me to make a teddy bear out of my granddaughters first sleep suits so here they are. I also embroidered "Made by Nanny" onto some ribbon and put it on both, these have now been sent to Australia where both my daughters live.

Did anyone see The Graham Norton show last night. Laura Linney was one of the guest and she had the most amazing dress, I need that dress, it had a p***y bow tie at the neck, buttons down the front (as far as I can see) and the right side was slightly longer than the left, it had 3/4 sleeves with a band at the cuff. The fabric was either crepe or viscose in either a black or navy background with small white sprigs of flowers. If you have any suggestion on fabrics or pattern can you share them, it will be much appreciated.

As promised I'm posting my Sew Over It Eve dress I made for a family 60th birthday party I used Lisa's Elderflower Press Cotton Lawn in Navy. This is not the most flattering photo but I had forgotten to take the photo at home so we took it in the car park that's why I look a little awkward. The Eve dress is so comfortable and the fabric is a dream to work with, the pattern goes together perfectly although I did put some press studs at the waist and a concealed button at the neck line but that was just for my personal safety

Yesterday we went to The Chelsea Flower Show, I was so pleased to see so many ladies and gentlemen in beautiful summer dresses and shirts. Lots of fabrics will gardening themes, bees, gardening tools and the like. Lots of fabrics I've seen on The Sewing Quarter and on lots of websites. So well done everybody.
