What kind of paper do you use for cutting out patterns? There is a special tissue pattern cutting paper you can buy, but it's pricey stuff. I tend to use baking paper, but I've just read a sewing post where someone has recommended the wrapping paper with gridlines on the back. What a great idea - off to the sales so I will keep my eyes peeled!

With a little homage to Pam Ayres, here's a poem about some recent changes at the former Curved Cottage Sewing Studio:

As my mother needs some tender loving care
The Curved Cottage has now relocated there
It's really not a cottage anymore
There are no rambling roses round the door
It's got no curves or country airs
It hasn't even got no stairs...

So has The Curved Cottage come to an end?
Is there no more a time to sew and time to mend?
Sadly sewing classes are suspended
But your clothes can still be mended
Taken up or in or out
Don't hesitate to shout.

Cushions and bags and soft furnishings,
Dresses or aprons, Christmas stockings,
Anything fabric, anything thread,
Is like fresh butter to my bread
One to one coaching to get you going
Catch the bug and you'll never stop sewing

So alas Curved Cottage, so sad to see you go
Your name is now redundant, doesn't suit a bungalow.
But we go on in spirit, where fire and passion glow

I do love a magazine, full of inspiration, a cosy sense of companionship in fellow interests and tempting projects to add to the ever-growing wish list! My current subscription to Love Sewing was a brilliant choice of a Christmas gift from my mum.
