When we say we are more than a shop, we mean it. We try to think about every eventuality - we consider what might impact on your enjoyment of your appointment and try our best to find a solution.

Sometimes you might need to bring a young child to an appointment. In a perfect world you would probably rather not but let’s be honest the world is rarely perfect and the stars rarely align. As a single parent I appreciate more than many how hard it is to find childcare even for a few hours and even when you think you’ve got it sorted, things crop up at the last minute. Whatever the circumstances, we want you to know you’re all welcome and we’d never want you to feel awkward or uncomfortable.

You’ll probably bring a phone or tablet to entertain the little one (and we have chargers) but an hour is a long time so we bring out the Lego. Something a bit different, tends to work because children generally want to show off their construction skills and wow us.

This enables you to focus on finding a prom dress. For an hour (then the other 23 hours go back to being pulled in a million different directions.)

When you come to us, you get prom dresses but you also get empathy and understanding, which enables you to relax and enjoy 💕

Does your morning look like a bit like this? (if not you’re lucky and I probably wouldn’t bother reading the post)

🥬 a gut health smoothie (smoothie is pushing it a bit, it’s orange juice, ice and green powder)

🥄 collagen which I really don’t like in the quest for youthful skin. Allegedly you can’t smell or taste it but as soon as anyone says that I become determined to find a smell and a taste 🙄

💊 Neuaura bloatburn. I got so fed up of waking up bloated before I’d even eaten or drunk anything. Bloating at night I can take but not at 6am. It works and dulls the sweet cravings (which I sometimes think is a bit sad tbh)

🧺 A washing machine full of rugby kit and other items that have been chucked in the basket because it’s easier for a teenager to do that than actually put anything away when you ask them to pick stuff up off the floor.

If any of these resonate with you and how your morning’s look then I empathise. Life with teenagers isn’t easier, it’s just different and their clothes are bigger and you are trying to work out if you’re peri-menopausal or just a little bit unstable.

So why am I sharing this which has nothing to do with prom dresses? Because you’re getting your prom dress from someone who possibly understands a bit about where you’re at. Supplements, chores, being pulled in a million different directions and for many of our followers with a Year 11 girl, the to do list now includes “sorting prom dress.”

I understand your concerns, the pressure you feel to get it right, to get it sorted, to have someone (us) look after the order process for you so you can get on with everything else.

I understand that what you need from us goes beyond simply a beautiful prom dress and because I understand, I explain it to my staff who are lucky to have years before they are at this stage of life, so they understand too.

So if you don’t want to take risks ordering from a faceless website or a huge shop where you’re just a number, we’re here when you’re ready.

We don’t officially “do” bridesmaids dresses but if we did……

Faith came to us in June looking for a dress for her mum’s August wedding. She was ideally wanting:

💟 Purple
💟 A line
💟 Not sheer on the bodice
💟 Bling free

I think we delivered. Faith looked incredible, stepping out of her usual wellies and hoodies. As a pet sitter and animal lover of course she couldn’t have a day off🦉

During the appointment we chatted about Faith’s business FL Pet sitter - it was obvious how much she loves animals and has picked the perfect business to start at such a young age - love the entrepreneurial spirit too. She’s based in Wrexham so if you’ve got animals you sometimes need looking after take a look at her services and give her a follow 🐱 🐶 🐎 🐇

Cancer is something that's affected our family in recent years and therefore is a cause that means a great deal to myself and Robyn.

So when Glenda Mai approached me I was always going to want to know more and help if I could....... and I hope you will love the idea as much as we do!

Glenda is a remarkable lady, having worked as a specialist doctor in the NHS for over 35 years, she couldn't just retire and do nothing! So, with a keen interest in fashion, she has become a colour consultant, helping ladies to recognise the colours that will enhance and flatter. BUT with a twist - Glenda has been providing this service for ladies after cancer surgery, undergoing chemotherapy, advising on hair wraps and dressing if you have a central line, with the aim of making ladies feel more confident at a really difficult time.

The text next to the photo is from Glenda's page, so please do take a look for lots more information on what she's been doing.

In order to carry on with this service, due to a lack of charitable funding, we are lending Glenda our lovely boutique for a pop up colour consultation - we think at the beginning of November.

Black is my default colour and has been ever since I can remember. I know many of you also have the black default because I see you bring your daughters, granddaughters and nieces to Ffansi Ffrogs and we laugh about it 🖤.

So this is an opportunity to come along, for a small fee, for a 20 minute consultation which will leave you feeling confident in the colours that will suit you, but will also provide such vital funds so Glenda can carry on working with cancer patients throughout North Wales.

Please do take a look at her page - by her own admission she's not into social media particularly (hasn't had the time with her career and understandably so) but any help to increase her reach and let people know about what she's doing will be so so appreciated.

And finally, if you'd be interested in a colour consultation, please put a 🌈 in the comments so we can gauge if we should move to finalising a date.

Facebook is a tricky place at the moment so any shares would be amazing as posts just often don't get seen x

* Consultations will be one to one during the day when the boutique is closed for Prom appointments so you will have your own private space.

Thanks so much if you read this far on a bank holiday evening!

Glenda Mai

Tonight's props are lego and balls,

Particularly if Prom 2027 is going to be your first experience of Prom, it might surprise you to learn that bigger shops aren't always better when it comes to finding your prom dress.

A huge choice can sound exciting, but for many girls it quickly becomes overwhelming. Too many dresses, too many decisions, and suddenly the fun disappears.

We believe the goal isn’t to try on hundreds of dresses. It’s to find **the right one** — with a carefully chosen collection, honest advice and someone there to help you narrow things down from a realistic selection, not 1000s where you don't know where to begin and will always have a feeling you missed something.

If the thought of huge shops and endless rails fills you with dread, there is another way. Us.

When you're done with browsing and getting an idea and ready to find your dress, that's when we are here for you.

We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Woolly Experiences Therapy Farm at the Ruthin Flower Show on Sunday. 🦙🤍

As well as experiences for the general public, it was amazing to find out more about the work they do and the difference their therapy animals can make to children and families going through difficult times.

Their farm offers private, tailored animal experiences, and their work has supported people facing a range of physical, emotional and psychological challenges.

They even take their animals into care homes!

If you think this is something that could help your child — or somebody you know — please give Woolly Experiences Therapy Farm a follow and have a look at what they do. It really is something very special. 🤍

All the private experiences help them to provide the therapy experiences for those in need so you really can have fun whilst doing good at the same time 💕

And, of course, meeting the alpacas was a definite highlight of our day! 🦙🐴

You might be surprised that this is the exact same dress. Keeley from Bro Idris knew exactly what colour she was buying.

No filters, no editing, just different light.

So if you’re thinking of buying a dress online, be aware you won’t know the real colour until it actually arrives. And if she doesn’t like it, you’re then in the return cycle:

a) can you return? (if you submitted measurements the answer will be no because that dress was made for you)

b) who pays for the cost of returning? (often with online prom dresses it’s you)

c) can you get any money back? (often only a partial refund)

Whilst you’re waiting for the answer to b) you might not be able to start looking for an alternative dress because you don’t know what your budget will be.

Whilst you’re waiting for the answer there will inevitably be some degree of stress and worry.

If you shop early enough with us, we can be flexible with deposits and you can spread the payments so rather than taking risks online talk to us - we’ll always do our best to find a solution but the earlier you come the more likely we can help.

Appointments can be booked online and October Saturdays are starting to fill up.

If you've been here a while you may have seen this video before but I keep being asked for it. If you know someone it might help please do share with them or tag them. Prom, especially first time round can be a bit of a minefield.

Does buying a dress from us guarantee nobody else will have the same dress on Prom Day?

No - absolutely not.

Boutiques throughout the UK stock the same labels. Not every shop stocks every label but lots of us have a few labels in common.

It's hard to get your head around so I used pink foil butterflies and handbags. I love a good prop.

If you're still unsure, why not book a prom discovery call and let us explain and answer any other questions you may have.

When I catch myself doing something when I’m meant to be working I look at this poster, which is right in my eye line in my office.

It means will the thing I’m doing (browsing ASOS, doom scrolling, complaining) drive the business forward?

The analogy is the GB rowing team asking the question of themselves when training for a gold medal.

It works. Honestly. Like a visual slap on the wrist. Back to work I go 🤓
