Please enjoy some of my favourite icky questions about CLAIRE aka Cardi C | Personalised Baby Knits + Denim and how I’d love to passive-aggressively respond 😜 (if I had the 🎾⚽️!!!)

Now, don’t get it twisted, I LOVE when people ask me about my work*, and will talk about my small business til the cows come home - I’m proud as punch 🤩 - buuuut sometimes, and probably with the very best intentions, I get asked one of these questions 🙄

School holidays are a lot aren’t they?! 😅

I knew I wasn’t going to be able to run my business AND look after two small children on my own for 6 weeks… in truth, I probably didn’t do either particularly well 🫠

But we muddled through. The kids are back at school, and I’m officially back in boss mode 💪🙌

Putting Instagram on pause (which can sometimes feel like a full-time job in itself), gave me a bit more wiggle room this summer…
More time for crab hunting on the coast, a girls’ getaway with my bestie, playdates, late nights, lazy mornings, and approximately 52,483 snacks 🦀🍸🛝🍿

So, HELLO from the other side! 👋

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer and that the back-to-school transition is treating everyone kindly this week ❤️

Why is it that the word ‘bossy’ is only associated with girls?!

Growing up, I remember being called too bossy and too chatty…
My little girl is probably what one would describe as ‘bossy’ but I love that for her (not so much for me when she’s barking orders 😅)

Because she’s not bossy - she’s assertive, she knows what she wants, and she isn’t afraid to use her voice.
One day she’s gonna rule the world 💪

It’s ok to be ambitious and to have a voice.
Labels matter, and it’s time we stopped calling girls bossy, and start calling them what they are:

BOSSES 🤩

… of a small business owner!

My bestie recently asked me, “Don’t you ever get bored?” And I could honestly reply… no!

Firstly, embroidery is my happy place ✨ I feel instantly calm when I sit down with my needle and thread 🧘🪡

Secondly, I don’t have time to be bored. Running a small business full-time (and not just as a hobby) means I get to wear so many hats. Admittedly, some fit better than others 😅

One minute I’m getting creative with branding, content, and bringing your custom ideas to life. The next, I’m putting my strategic hat on and geeking out over numbers, plans, and dreaming about what’s next 🤩

Yes, of course there are some bits I could definitely do without (hello bookkeeping 👀), but they’re a necessary evil, and I’m so grateful for every role that this new career path has given me 🫶🏻

If 2020 Claire could see me now, she’d be shooketh!

Halfway through the year… HOW?!

I had my first Christmas email last week 😅 I can’t even begin to think about that until I’ve sorted out the summer holidays - please tell me I’m not the only one?! 🤪

June has actually felt like a bit of a turning point. For one of the first times since starting my small business, I feel like I’ve found a balance that works 🙌…

Bringing your custom orders to life, whilst still finding time for myself and my family 🙏

Now if the PTA could ease up on the emails, we’d really be winning 😉

Note to self: don’t launch a summer product at the end of summer 😅

I worked so hard on that launch and thought I’d done everything right… but I was so wrong 🤪

To be honest, I’d put my custom cap launch down as one of my small business’s biggest failures… selling only one cap sold is just embarrassing 🤦🏻‍♀️

After the flop that was 2025 cap sales, I’d packed my stock away and sheepishly never spoke about them again 🫣

Until now 🤩
As the temperatures began to rise, so too did the sales of my custom caps ☀️

My custom caps have finally started finding their people, and the pink caps in particular have flown off the shelves🩷
I even had an order for two caps from a celeb customer I admire so much that I nearly cried when I saw her name pop up 🥹

It’s funny how something I once labelled a “failure” has become its own little success story. Sometimes it’s not the product that’s the problem… it’s simply the timing.

A huge thank you, as always, for every single order. Running a small business is one big rollercoaster, but moments like these make every twist and turn worth it 🫶

Did you know I used to (still do?!) run another small business called selling preloved baby & kids clothes? 💚🩷

My bestie & I set it up after both being made redundant, but had to put it on hold for the time-being as we’ve both found ourselves VERY busy with our new jobs 😅

But anywho, sustainability has always been important to me here ❤️
From eco-friendly packaging to creating heirloom pieces made to be treasured for years… not tossed into landfill 🙌

That’s why I LOVE the story behind these dungarees 🥹

😅TAKE A BREAK😅

A break I didn’t plan, but one I really needed 🫠

Orders have been lovingly created in the background, but May has been all about soaking up time with the people closest to me 🥰

40th birthdays, welcoming a beautiful new niece, a trip to my home-away-from-home, surviving half term chaos, and celebrating 10 years of wedded bliss with Mr TC ❤️

The heatwave was a blessing in disguise ☀️
Whilst it meant knitwear orders took a bit of a backseat (custom caps took the top spot this month! 🧢), it gave me the chance to slow down, reset, and find my balance again 🙏

So consider me recharged, cup full, and READY to make June my b*tch 💪
