I thought I better make an official post as I keep being asked about the same thing
So here goes
This year I won’t be attending any festivals! 😅
Shock horror

It’s been a long time coming and I’ve clung on to my love for dear life but after being a festival trader since 2015 I’m finally saying goodbye to the fields

For me the festival world has completely changed mostly after the pandemic 😷
From being told what not to wear and placing huge restrictions on the type of items you can sell to having to be cashless and giving away a percentage of your takings to the organisers
In the good old days you just paid a (pretty high) pitch fee but now the organisers feel like they have the right to a percentage of all your takings!
I get that they themselves are struggling but It’s absolutely crazy and criminal in my eyes
They don’t provide the stall, the decor, fixtures & fittings, insurance, staff & all the stock! We also pay for our own electric at these events
Now we are seeing the likes of Shein and other fast fashion & corporate companies having on site shops which really makes my blood boil

So with that being said it’s the time for me to step away from that world altogether

I’ve had the absolute best time over the years and feel very lucky to have been involved in it all but it’s time to spend my summers doing something different
Maybe I’ve just outgrown them now that I’m older I don’t know but the magic and freedom that made festivals so special to me just doesn’t seem to be there anymore
It will be very strange having a summer at home & I’ll miss my Gorgoues fam so much but it’s time for festival retirement for me

I’ve made the very difficult decision to finally leave my beautiful shared studio space at Islington Mill 😢
Jessie is also moving her studio home so there’s actually a fantastic double space up for grabs
It’s a fab opportunity to nab a great space with mint people

I’ll miss this community so much and part of me feels like I’m giving up on my dreams but the reality is that I’m living a brand new dream that I didn’t even know I had 💞

The complete unexpected Whirlwind of my live whatnot steams has meant that I’ve been on a constant carousel of sourcing, curating and selling vintage with not much time in between for my Art 🖼️

For a long time (over a year) I’ve convinced myself that my Manic Mondays show was a fluke or just a craze or that I somehow had just been lucky but I’m now starting to accept that it’s a thing and you actually do love it 🥰
It’s my whole life now and all I think about & it makes me really happy!
Im fully here for the ride
It’s more than just a sale or a show it’s the fabulous community of inmates that I’ve built My amazing new online pals 👯💞

My plan is to move my studio home and create a studio/live streaming space/whatnot room.
