E N D O F A N E R A . . .

Hello everyone!

Hope you are all keeping well and still smiling during this odd and unsettling time. Lockdown has inspired some home improvements in our house, now we have the time to do it. I actually bought some wallpaper two years ago and I’m pleased to say I have finally hung it!

Also seeing as my husband is working from home for the foreseeable future, my little design studio is more like a study these days. So this weekend we have redecorated his new work space and I put the children’s books that I designed and illustrated away....it’s and end of an era....and more importantly, my books will no longer be the backdrop to his Zoom meetings! 😂

It’s nearly two years since I started working in a secondary school, supporting students emotionally and I absolutely love it! To be honest I think if I hadn’t have been creative, I would have got into a mental health or social work type of job. I love helping people, probably more than being creative, I know I’ve said that before.

I have great memories designing children’s books, I still can’t believe I drew a picture of Nora and Woody on a beach playing together, before I had even met them! I loved working at Priddy Books in London, made some really lovely friends there. Freelancing was good too and I was grateful for the exciting projects I got to work on with Really Decent Books, Bookworks, North Parade Publishing. As well as more recently, the wonderful drawings and keepsakes I got to create with Emma DRAWS.

It’s seems weird to say I’m on a different path now in a life, but it feels right. I’ll always be creative, I’ll never lose those skills or stop enjoying messing around on home projects or helping with small design requests. But I love my new career path and I look forward to where it takes me. I think that’s what makes life exciting, trying new things and not being afraid to do so.

Thank you for supporting Emma DRAWS. I certainly appreciated it a lot and I hope you still enjoy the drawings I created for you.

U P D A T E . . .

So a lot has happened in a year!

A change of career for me after many, many years working as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. I now work in a secondary school supporting students with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties and I absolutely love it! I never knew I would enjoy working with teenagers as much as I do.

So Emma DRAWS has been on hold since September 2018 and although I have stopped drawing for now, I couldn't resist creating a festive illustration for my local community centre's Christmas card. It's a lovely place to be, located in a beautiful village so it was very easy to draw and I didn't need much inspiration.

**ORDER BOOK CLOSED**

Existing orders will be done in the next month or so. I'll re-open on 5th September and will start Christmas drawings early, in an attempt to stagger the festive work load this year.

Was at a fundraising coffee morning for the mental health charity Mind today. As well as eating lots of cakes and drinking lots of tea, I donated an gift voucher. I look forward to hearing from the lucky raffle winner!

Absolutely love this drawing! Celebrating two momentous occasions in one illustration, the birth of a beautiful baby boy born last week and his Mummy's birthday today! What a privilege to be able to capture such a special time for this family...

"They absolutely loved it so thankyou so much for getting it done so quickly"

There is usually a 3-4 week wait for an drawing, but I managed to fit this illustration in whilst the newlyweds were on honeymoon, so it could be a wedding gift on their return.

I think Mr & Mrs Pope look stunning! I love drawing wedding pictures, it's a real pleasure to do so. And as always, feedback is much appreciated...thank you x
