Welcome to the latest Atkinsons newsletter. I’m delighted to share a few updates from the store, along with what’s coming up and a little of what’s happening behind the scenes.
Atkinsons Car Park
Atkinsons car park is open as normal, with access from Charter Row. We apologise for the disruption caused while a new cycle lane is being constructed on Charter Row.
This year’s holiday for Chris was something newish, and we had booked a seven-bedroom farmhouse in the lovely village of March Green, not far from Exmouth in Devon. It was a great success and allowed the three families to spread out, have their own space, as well as coming together in the communal areas and lovely garden, complete with a stream.
The weather was incredible, but we didn’t get to take that many snaps, as we had to come home early, due to me! I got a cold sore, and apparently these don’t sit comfortably with tiny grandchildren or pregnant ladies — and we had both! So, I was expelled and sent home after four days of our week’s stay!
So, we immediately booked a week at Whitsand Bay in Cornwall for two, in one of those chalets that hangs off a cliff and overlooks the never-ending beach and sea below! Apparently, you climb down there with your luggage and leave your car at the top! Sounds just fine for a couple of old crocks like us!
Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the roadworks on Charter Row, but we and our car park are open as normal. The local authority is putting in a new cycle lane, allowing easier access to and from the city centre. The work will take a while, but you will always have access to Atkinsons and our car park.
Chris and I often have customers talking to us about how much they love Atkinsons. Generally speaking, when new people visit us for the first time, they really enjoy that welcoming feeling and attention to detail, which has disappeared from much of retailing.
We have over 40 departments, lots of well-known concessions and three restaurants, all catering for different tastes. The car park above the store holds 400 cars, is competitively priced, and I am the fourth generation. I worked full-time for 52 years and have now been put out to grass, apart from three mornings a week! My good wife carries on the tradition and always has a welcoming smile!
I am pleased to say the escalators are now back and running. The situation has been embarrassing, to say the least, and hopefully we won’t have a recurrence.
September is nearly upon us, moving into autumn and, of course, our September Event, which is the most important of all our promotions and has the very best items on offer.
Buyers have been asked for very special promotional lines and have been given extra money to support bigger discounts, so that our offer to YOU is the very best.
Alongside that is our Loyalty Card Plus, where you can build up points against future purchases. For those larger items, we also have a full range of credit facilities, including three years’ interest-free credit.
It all starts Saturday 5th September at 9am.
Be the first in the queue!
