Shepton Mallet is packed with brilliant independent businesses - far too many to squeeze into one post. So here are just a few of our town-centre favourites, all within a stone’s throw of Shepton’s Sunday Market.

From antiques, art and beautiful handmade pieces to books, gifts, coffee, food and plenty of unexpected finds, there’s so much to explore beyond the market stalls themselves.

Many of our town’s independents open their doors on market Sundays too, so make time for a wander while you’re here (do check individual pages before making a special trip).

And this really is only a small selection…

Some traders only join us occasionally, which makes it even more of a treat when they do. This month on Sun 30th, we’re delighted to welcome back shorkk, bringing a carefully curated collection of exceptional Lebanese ingredients to Shepton Mallet.

From fragrant oregano and vibrant sumac to rich pomegranate molasses and beautiful olive oils, every product has been sourced directly from two independent producers in Lebanon. It’s food with real provenance, incredible flavour and a story behind every jar, bottle and packet. Shorkk was founded to celebrate Lebanon’s rich culinary heritage while supporting the growers who continue to produce these remarkable ingredients using traditional methods, despite the challenges they face.

Whether you’re already a keen cook or simply looking to try something new, do stop by for a chat with Miranda and discover ingredients that can completely transform your cooking.
