Today in Fleabag towers we have been selling things and sorting through some vintage glasses we recently acquired from a house call. We particularly liked the 4 1980s Scottish whisky advertising glasses and thought we would place them with one of our favourite pictures. The glasses are £5 each and the limited edition 21/250 signed print by Gilbert Browne of Upper Moriston and River Moriston which is between Inverness and Fort William. It’s £65.

Loving the Chance Glass platters on the clear glass table outside the shop today.

Chance Glass made all kinds of glass items including the glazing for Crystal Palace to house the Great Exhibition of 1851, and the Houses of Parliament, (built 1840–1860). At that time it was the only firm able to make the opal glass for the four faces of the Westminster Clock Tower which houses the famous bell, Big Ben. Other products included stained glass windows, ornamental lamp shades, microscope glass slides, painted glassware, glass tubing and specialist types of glass.

The platters and plates we have date from the 1950s until 1976 and are still eminently affordable & collectable. My favourite pattern is the atomic swirl situated in the middle of the table in this photo.

We are open today Thursday 30th April, Friday 1st May and Saturday 2nd May 11am-6pm. We overlook the world heritage Saltaire model village behind the Ring o Bells pub.

We had a great Saturday last week in the shop Kirkgate was bathed in sunshine we were able to put a good spread of gorgeous stock outside the shop and we had a good number of visitors, we sold ceramics, we sold glass we sold a couple of books some vintage Lego a book case a mirror a painting a vintage Omni magazine some promotional lapel pins from the 1960s and some costume jewelry. We had some good conversations with friendly and interesting people and we enjoyed the vibrant feeling and good humored interactions throughout the day in Shipleys vintage quarter centered on Kirkgate and extending along Bradford Road and reaching down to Salts Mill at the railway end of Saltaire. We open again this week from 11am until 6pm on Thursday Friday and Saturday (30th April to the 2nd of May and then we close for the following week because we are organizing and managing the mighty The Yorkshire Flea up at Thirsk Farmers Auction Mart & Rural Business Centre for our first Thirsk Fleamarket of 2026. are some pictures of the stock we didn’t sell this week come and have a look at us and our delightful neighbors Indie • Boho • Vintage, La Cachette Cafe & Bistrot,Salts Mill Saltaire, Carlton Antiques and Ring O’Bells, Shipley

This is a beautiful book by a thoughtful and honest writer and a lovely desirable thing as an object. it’s part of a carefully selected small collection of interesting and unusual books we have for sale up in our shop aongside good selection of interesting unusual and attractive objects all for sale. A few shots of our stock outside the The Yorkshire Fleabag up in Shipley’s Vintage quarter (top of Kirkgate) BD18 3LR opposite our good friends Indie • Boho • Vintage next to La Cachette Cafe & Bistrot up the road from Salts Mill in the gorgeous world Heritage Site of Saltaire. Come for a browse in the glorious sunshine and see what you can find. Open from 11am until 6pm most Thursday Friday and Saturdays most definitely open the Friday and Saturday (24th & 25th April)

Thank you so much for coming to visit us and buy things this week. We love being part of the community in Shipley/Saltaire and we appreciate every visit. It’s taken a bit of re-adjustment for us after such an intense full on time organising at our at Skipton. Here are a few photos from yesterday that caught my eye. We are back open next Thursday 16th April.

Come see us and all the great small businesses in the district. Saltaire is a World Heritage site with an exemplary mill conversion with shops and places to eat & drink and we are just up the road.
