2024 Highlights

It was a real pleasure working as R&D fellow on the New Landscapes India programme in partnership with .

Traceability Framework For Indian Wool (Desi Oon) is a funded project by a dedicated team of awardees , and Here We Are.
Advising the team was a wonderful opportunity to lend expertise on leading sustainability focused textile R&D projects whilst championing the provenance and values of working with native wool.

The project aimed to establish a traceability technology for indigenous Indian wool, informed by existing traceability frameworks for British wool within the fashion and interior industries that could act as a blue print.
The aim was to make undervalued indigenous wool more competitive and recognized in the global market by promoting sustainable practices within existing supply chains to increase profitable for local artisans and pastoralists.

Over 6 months, the team impressively collected data and developed a digital app providing traceability on the Indian wool supply chain to other global businesses and consumers of existing products including shoes and blankets made in India. I can’t wait to see how the team advance in their endeavours. Congratulations Riya, Richa, Jo, Nisha, Santosh and Rahul as well as all their colleagues, artisans and the pastoralists involved in the project 🐑 🧶 🖥️

As always, it was a pleasure to work with and have on board as academic mentor to the team.
