I am a mother of 3 and have lived in Shropshire all of my life. I worked as a nurse and midwife in Shrewsbury until I had my family. Whilst my children were growing up I was a registered childminder working from home. During those 16 years I had the pleasure of caring for 35 small children. I also found time to develop my needlecrafts skills, amongst the many other crafts which I have enjoyed as a

hobby. Having extended my tailoring skills I ran a busy alterations and repairs department in Shrewsbury town centre for over 12 months. I have since been running my own sewing and handicrafts business from home in Minsterley for over 12 years and moved to a bungalow in Bicton Heath in August 2014. We have had extensive alterations made to the bungalow to include a new sewing room which is now completed. On a regular basis my work includes shortening trousers / skirts, taking in or letting out garments, shortening sleeves, adjusting wedding dresses for the big day and numerous household sewing jobs. Here we are at the end of another school year. Don’t forget, before you throw away the uniform they have grown out of, that I make Memory Bears from them to remind your children of their happy school days. Here’s a selection I’ve made over the years that I thought I’d share with you.

Memory bears can be to remember a special person who is no longer with us or they can be made from almost any clothing/fabrics that hold special memories for you. It could be a baby’s first tiny clothing, a school uniform, a sports
shirt, a pets favourite blanket.......the ideas are endless.

I’m happy to make the bears with almost any fabrics that hold memories for you. Some are easier to use than others obviously but I can usually find a way of using most. If they are knitted or stretchy then I have to stabilise it with interfacing before use.
Each bear is made from 4 panels, 2 on the front and 2 on the back so the bears can be made from 1-4 different fabrics ie all 4 can be the same or all 4 can be different.
To make a bear it takes 4 panels that measure approximately 8”x15” so it depends on how big the items of clothing are to say how many are needed to make a bear ....for example to make a bear to remember new baby days it takes 4 babygros.
A Memory bear normally costs just £25.00 and if you want a special personalised label to hang around his neck it’s just £5 extra.
If you’re not local to me then I am more than happy to sort out details of what you’re wanting via messenger and post your completed Bears back to you...it usually cost £5.50 for postage via a courier within the UK

I think I have now come to the end of the prom dresses needing alterations but still have a few bridesmaids booked in along side my regular customers requests. I have spent my morning making these 2 gorgeous Memory bears…I just need to make another 5 Memory bears to reach my goal of 1000 bears.

I have several customers with orders for Memory bears pending and now only need to make another 11 to reach my goal of 1000 bears so please get your orders in. They can be made to remember many special times. I’ve had a few busy weeks doing lots of sewing jobs for my customers…I’ve taken in and shortened trousers and altered gorgeous posh frocks. On top of that I’ve done lots of sewing for the Harry Johnson charity that I support….I’ve made peg bags, glasses cases, popper purses and lots of things for Easter so have been kept very busy and I hope it raises lots of funds.
I’ve also made this gorgeous Memory Bear from a Wedding dress….it was quite a challenge but I loved the finished result….and so did my customer. I’m thrilled to say I’ve been allowed to share him with you.
