Update on Resident Doctor Industrial Action
The resident doctor strike action that had been planned for this week has now been called off.
The British Medical Association (BMA) has suspended the industrial action following a last-minute offer from the Government, which is now being put to members in a referendum.
Significant planning had been underway at University Hospital Southampton to ensure patient safety during the anticipated strike. Unfortunately, this meant that a number of outpatient appointments and planned operations were cancelled in advance.
We are now working hard to restore services and maximise activity wherever possible this week. Patients who can be offered an appointment will be contacted directly.
If you have an appointment scheduled this week and have not been notified of a cancellation, please attend as planned.
