Yesterday was great!

A day of firsts for both Wilbur and me! Wilburs first trip to a gallery, first trip to a cafe, first time having his nappy changed outside in the wild, first time touching a leaf, and he also discovered his own hair and now wants to touch it all the time 😂

For me, it was my first time being invited to show my woven pieces in a proper gallery, and first time breastfeeding in public (it was lovely)

Happy 12 weeks birthday little Wilbur, you have stolen our hearts 🥰

Favourite Kids Weaves #5

I love this one! This student has tried three different patterns on the same warp; hopsack, triangles and herringbone.

My favourite part of this piece is the middle section, which started out as the triangles pattern but took on a life of its own half way across. What I love is how the 'mistake' was embraced, and matched in every row to make it a feature. It adds so much character and interest.

Love the blue and red combo too 🤩

This one was also from GCSE level textiles 🙌🏼

Exhibition!
Gallery 57, Arundel, UK
6th June - 18th July ☀️

A few pieces of my off-loom weavings will be on display alongside the beautiful work of knitter Kate Box at Gallery 57 😁

There will be an opening on the 6th from 12-4pm. The rest of the time, the gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 4pm.

It's a lovely space and I am so delighted to be there!

Favourite Kids Weaves #3

Another from the summer workshops of 2022, for A-Team Arts at The Brady Centre in Whitechapel

This one is woven around an old Victorian tile that I found at the dump! I just love how this weave looks. You can really see how they have embraced a 'mistake' in the structure they were following, found they rather liked it, and repeated it over and over again. That's actually really hard to do!

These two colours really zing too.

These classes were four years ago but I still look at these pictures all the time!

This is such a fun one to try with the kids - just poke some holes in a square shape on a piece of cardboard, thread some yarn up and down vertically, then just let them weave over and under!

Doesn't matter if it goes 'wrong' - it will keep them busy for ages 😁
