life lately 📸

the past few weeks have felt equal parts relaxing, creative, and completely chaotic — and honestly, i needed all of it.

we had the most beautiful half term. adventures, family, the kind of slow days that fill you back up. and then my birthday came and my husband took me to York, just the two of us. proper couple time. the kind of bubble that’s really hard to burst out of once you’re in it.

so i didn’t burst out of it. i stayed in it a little longer than planned.

but here’s the thing — while i’ve been quiet on here, i’ve been making some of the biggest moves i’ve made since starting nomadic mother. connections with women i truly admire. new stockists. things i’ve been working toward for a long time quietly behind the scenes.

The Sofia dress is doing something different today.

White broderie, layered under a grey knit vest, striped long sleeve underneath, black bandana at the neck. Standing in the vegetable garden in the sunshine pretending I am somewhere in rural France.

I built Nomadic Mother with a baby on my hip. Literally.

My first ever photoshoot for this brand was done on my due date. Heavily pregnant, uncomfortable, completely determined.

Two weeks after my daughter was born I was back at it. Altering patterns while she slept in her Moses basket on the floor beside me. Taking her on the tube to factory meetings in London, navigating the city with a newborn because this was not going to wait.
She has been there through every single bit of it.

Now she is three and not much has changed. I get one day a week while she is at nursery to work on Nomadic Mother properly. The rest of the time she is still here. Coming to meetings, appearing in content, sitting on my lap while I answer emails.

She and my son are growing up watching their mum build something from nothing. Watching me be passionate about something. Watching me be more than just their mum.

And I think that matters more than I can put into words.

Because I am not some distant designer who imagined what pregnancy and motherhood might feel like and built a brand around it. I am you. I have lived every single stage of this journey. The exhaustion, the identity shift, the desperate need for something that makes you feel like yourself again while you are in the middle of the most overwhelming season of your life.

I know what it feels like to hold the baby and the dream at the same time.
That is exactly why this brand exists. Not just to dress you beautifully through pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding, though it will absolutely do that, but to show you that you can hold all of it at once.

One day when my daughter is old enough to understand what her mum was doing all those times I hope she feels inspired to chase something of her own with the same kind of stubborn, passionate, sleep deprived determination.

Growing another human creates real change in your body. Some women say it takes months, maybe even years, to return to a body that feels familiar. Some say they never do.

I am going to be honest here — one of the things I find hardest about running an online business is that you never get to see the moment someone touches the fabric for the first time.

You never get to watch their face when they put a piece on and feel the difference that natural fibres actually make against their skin. You never get to have that conversation in person, answer their questions, share the story behind what you have made and why.

I am so excited to announce that Nomadic Mother will be at The South Cheshire Baby and Early Years Show on Sunday 17th May at Wychwood Park Hotel, Weston, Crewe. Doors open 10am until 4pm.

What I’m wearing Today

The Dali dress layered over a stripe and my cosiest jumper for a slow morning with my three year old.

I have been having so much fun rediscovering how to style my pieces beyond pregnancy and postpartum.

This one started life as a “maternity dress” wore in pregnancy and postpartum for easy breastfeeding access and it just keeps reinventing itself. It’s something I definatly will wear forever.

Comfortable without trying too hard. That is the goal. Practical but still me.

That is honestly all I ever wanted from my wardrobe.
