Following on from my previous video.

After some fault diagnosis I found that the timing of the machine was out.

I adjusted the timing and now the bobbin shuttle rotates fully in time with the needle and sews beautifully.

I got this machine in and was told it didn't work. What you see in the video is the full rotation of the needle but the bobbin shuttle stops at its full rotation.

Further investigation is needed!!

Just had this lovely sewing machine in.

This machine is a self winding bobbin machine. This means the bobbin winds while inside the bobbin case and not on top of the machine like most.

The problem was that the bobbin was not winding any thread on.

As you can see from the second picture the bobbin case was broken. A new bobbin case was needed and it sews and threads the bobbin like a dream.

Got the Singer Confidence in with a problem with the auto threader.

The pictures show the auto threaderwas not aligned with the needle so the little hook would not go through the eye of the needle.

The problem was that the needle position was to low so adjusted to correct height.

The little hook was bent to the side so adjusted back to the centre.

Now the auto threader would work how it should.

Other faults I found with this machine were that the lateral (left and right) movement of the needle were miss aligned and the bobbin case tension was tight.

Your machine is playing up, doesn't stitch the way you want it to.

It might just need a good service. Everytime you sew anything on your machine you accumulate lint from the material and thread. This builds up and clogs your machine up.

If you use your machine regularly please remember to have it serviced. This will keep it running smoothly.

Timing issues with your machine.
What does this really mean to you? We discusses the causes, let me show you inside the machine.

The first picture shows that the hook (arrowed) is behind the needle. This to me is out of timing.

The second picture shows after adjustments have been made. The hook (arrowed and screw driver pointed) is now online with the needle.

Timings issues happen all the time and is the most common problem with sewing machines.

Regular servicing can pick up your timing issues early.
