Tracks Less Taken Vol. 10: Fortrose & Rosemarkie
There are courses in Scotland that ask to be conquered. Others simply ask to be understood.
Set on the narrow Chanonry Peninsula, stretching out into the Moray Firth, Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club occupies an extraordinary strip of land where the sea feels only a few paces away on either side.
At points, the peninsula narrows dramatically, creating a golfing landscape that feels suspended between water and sky.
Documentary evidence traces the game here back to 1702, while the club itself was formally established in 1793, making it the 15th oldest recorded golf club in the world.
