🌍 Celebrating ! 🌱

Transforming waste into opportunity: Our Full Circle Fashion pop-up is supporting grassroots waste management and soil health. International Conservation and Cleanup Management (ICCM) are training communities like Christian Youth Development Organisation (CYDO) in Lilongwe, East Africa. Paper and organic waste is being turned into a source of biofuel known as briquettes used for cooking. Organic manure/compost is another useful product that the groups use to enrich the soil.

Dorris Steven, CYDO Chairperson, shares how this initiative generates income while improving soil fertility. This year's theme, "Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage," highlights the power of sustainable soil management.

🔄 From Rags to Riches: A History That Repeats!
Did you know? Before modern recycling, "rag and bone" collectors were the original sustainability heroes! They'd go door-to-door in cities like Manchester, trading small items like pins or coins for old clothes and rags. These materials were crucial for papermaking, and the system was surprisingly efficient!

Why is this relevant today? Our work with Full Circle Fashion directly supports ICCM (International Conservation and Clean Up Management) in Malawi, East Africa. They're tackling similar challenges – cities overwhelmed with waste management, just like in the past.
A 2021 ICCM study showed that working with informal waste collectors is key to solving Malawi's waste crisis. ICCM is now implementing international standard waste management strategies, bringing that same community-based approach into the modern era! ♻️
What goes around comes around – whether it's in Victorian England or modern-day Malawi, community-based recycling makes a real difference! 💚

Exciting news! Full Circle Fashion was back at Om and Bass well-being festival in Braziers Park, Oxford last weekend! 🎉🧘‍♀️
We met some incredible people and raised an incredible £240. Our funky Malawi jackets stole the show once again. But that's not all – our beautiful Malawi handicraft products made from waste came with inspiring stories that warmed every heart and soul. 💖

Now for a pledge of self-care and yoga as the summer closes, plus the monthly hit of sustainable fashion at our pop-up, the next one is on October 6 and 7. It's the perfect blend of feeling good and doing good! 🌿🎵

The festival setup will start on Thursday 12 September at noon. You ll get two tickets into this incredibly energising well being festival :) All proceeds from our FCF stall go to supporting a waste management social enterprise in Malawi, East Africa.
