Do you want to get jeans shortened but worried about losing the nice worn finish? I have a technique that keeps the exact same finish as when they are made. These jeans below have been shortened using this method.

The processes of shortening jacket sleeves properly to keep the original finish of the cuffs. Remove the sleeve at the shoulder, reshape the original sleeves according to how much shorter they need to be, then replace the sleeves as per the original jacket. Not many alteration tailors are capable of this alteration, but it's the only way to keep the cuff details the same as if unadjusted.

I made this jacket from a burda pattern for my upcoming wedding outfit. I wasn't happy with it at all. Too square and boxy. I was going to start over, but the silk dupion fabric was expensive, so I had a serious word with myself. What am I best at? Alterations is my forte. So I set about altering it.
I took in the back and sides to get a more fitted shape, curved the front panels to soften the lines, and added a collar for a more formal look. Now I'm much happier with it. 😊

I've put two matching panels into this dress to allow more room, I took identical fabric from pocket bags to use, then replaced the pocket bags with similar linen.
