We're calling this one, the sweetie shop quilt!

Not going to lie this colour palette was way out of my comfort zone & I really wasn't sure it was working, but seeing it finished today I love it, fresh & zingy! There's silks, satins, stretch jersey, linen & cotton's in here, it may be a simple design but these materials definitely made it more challenging

Thjs is a simple memory quilt made from a much loved Mum's clothing, backed with a pale pink linen, which gives it a great weight, bound in a great stripy, checked shirt, which has a bit of all the colours in it.

Sometimes you get the most perfect combo of clothing & quilt design, I think this little girls clothes in this stars above quilt design is dreamy!

I cannot wait to see what her Mummy chooses for the back & binding.

I have been working on these three for about 6 weeks, a set of three for three siblings.

The two for the boys I was very short on cloth, so I had to open almost every seam on every item of baby clothing to make the most of what we had. Which took some time! Amazing how much fabric you can get out of a baby grow once you use the feet (swipe to see very cute bear feet, flattened & used as a star's centre), the placket behind the zip, the cuffs! We also added in a selection of green, blue, gray & striped chambray to compliment the baby clothing.

Then the middle quilt was for the daughter, check out the little bunny knee patches from some leggings that were used as star centre's.

These are all single sized nova star memory quilts.

Working with baby clothes is possibly the hardest way to make a quilt, especially a design as complex as the nova star pattern, but definitely worth it when you can make details like these little bunny knee patches the centre of a couple of blocks.

A small batch of hourglass quilts made up for & delivered yesterday.

4 x baby quilts & a single bed sized quilt. Some made with Liberty remnants & some made with shirt remnants. These make lovely baby gifts or just a nice wall hanging.

✨Our finished Stars Above quilt ✨

The binding was chosen by Arri in the end, as she wanted to gift this one to her teacher who's off on Maternity leave. Arri even helped make the binding, she's getting very good with the iron. Any recommendations on a kids sewing machine, I don't think my industrial machine is the place to start!
