Quilt number 3 was all about the blue 🐦

A very varied mix of fabrics from silk to cotton, tight weave to loose weave, and a lot of seersucker to stir the pot. This took a lot of planning on the computer to find out how much fabric I had and what pattern it could then become. I took some inspiration from the flying geese block and the center of this piece featured a large one which was slightly off centered. I wanted side one to feature a structured pattern and then work with what I had left to create a more relaxed back panel.

Throwback to this time last year making a beach themed bench seat for a neighbour ⛱️
It took a few samples to find the right shade and pattern, but this Falmouth stripe from Just Fabrics fit the bill perfectly. Pattern matched at the front to give a more seamless stripe with handmade piping to finish. A faux blind was made in the same material to tie the room together.

There were a lot of different fabric weights, textures, drapes and types of weave to contend with and it certainly wanted to move and change shape as I went along, regardless of all the pinning

Dreaming of some sunshine in the rain today πŸŒžβ˜”
One of my most used, and favourite, patterns are actually the wattlebird jumpsuit and dress, pretty easy and quick to sew with minimal fabric (especially for the dress). This was hacked into a short version and it's perfect for throwing on in the summer, super easy and comfortable! Cut in a size 10 and made from fondant stripe soft linen in fondant pink from I added a fun red vintage zip I had spare, which was a little shorter than required but it was a perfect match for the fabricπŸ‘Œ

Heirloom patchwork quilt made from upcycled clothing and featuring a full sized hand painted silk backing. Featuring florals, pinks, purples and blues backed with the Chelsea garden backdrop that they painted. One of the dresses used was also the dress the grandmother wore to one of their Chelsea garden shows. A collection of memories of both someone and the times shared together 🌷

A delayed of a project I started two years ago. Someone had wanted to turn all their, and their mother's, old 50s and 60s clothing into unique heirloom quilts for her children and grandchildren to enjoy. We separated all the colours and patterns into groups to suit: this one featured more floral summer fabrics with a giant hand painted silk back that was featured in their Chelsea Flower Show exhibit, perfect for the florist daughter 🌷
