03/01/2024
I’m extremely late to the New Year party of posting, for the simple reason; I wanted to be wholly present in the time I was away to switch off & enjoy the moment and myself.
I’ve been planning 2024 for some time, especially as it marks the end of my 17 year tenure in a bricks & mortar business, and this summer, I’m so privileged to be able to watch my son Harry, realise his 15 year commitment & dream of representing his country at the Olympics in Paris & I want to be there with my family & witness it all…how many parents get to say that?
A hugely successful businessman once gave me a giant pearl of wisdom…”Business is a smoke filled room, always know where the door is” and that’s what I’ve been doing with my life of late, working my way to the door and finding ways of making my business portable and manageable so it fits with my life, so that it’s not draining or dragging me along.
For me, 2024’s mantra is “addition by subtraction” in ALL things, I’m embracing the art of letting go in the hope I’ll create room for new opportunities and experiences & I’m extremely open to them all. I know I’ll be leaving Cheshire but I’ve no idea where that will be just yet, but I’m excited at the prospect of it and I’m enjoying house searching.
I’ll free up time by saying no to activities that drain my energy and yes to those that bring me joy and fulfillment…2024 is about finding my joy. On New Years Day morning I swam in the Atlantic, the cold & the waves were a brutal shock, but I told myself that this was much like life, the waves pass and everything is temporary & I have a lot of faith in myself to weather change.
These are a few quotes I’ve found inspiring & I’ve saved as a reminder to myself. Let the decluttering of mind, body space & time commence.
Happy New Year to you all
