This cheetah was very fun to paint. I haven’t done anything like him before and the cutter is just the head shape. No details what so ever unlike most of my cutters which have a little to give me something to work with. So this guy is completely done off the top of my head. I’m rather pleased with him! The final stage of my pins is varnishing. I like to use Fimo gloss varnish as I like them to have a shine to them. It not only protects the paint and prolong my pins life but I think it also really makes them pop. The second coat makes all the difference and it’s not until it’s applied that the pin really really comes to life!

I always post the end result but thought I would show you guys the painting process! For some reason I never mix my colours in the palette but like to build the colour on the actual piece. It’s how I’ve always painted so I’m now too long in the tooth to change! It also means that my pieces very much evolve as I’m painting and the end result is very rarely what I picture when I start. Check out my next post to see how the final step of varnishing really finishes my pins off
