Our tapestry canvases are printed as accurately as they possibly can be, and we are generous with the other materials we provide in our kits. Our designs are a joy to stitch, with no enormous areas of one colour.

Hello again! We have more Cats Jumping over the Moon for you to admire, two gorgeous cushions. Stephanie’s specs case is here again too if you have a scroll.

Natasha and Helen sent in their tapestries at the same time. We love it when two canvases of the same design arrive together. They each chose blue borders (3” wide) for their Cats but selected quite different fabric. Exciting!

Natasha chose Sky velvet with red piping and a royal blue backing, and Helen opted for Cornflower woolly border and backing with piping in orange cotton. We adore them both!

Thank you, Helen and Natasha. We hope your cats are happy at home and not bouncing about too much when it’s a full moon! 🌕

Happy Friday and happy weekend…we’re nearly there!

Today we are having a look at some of the most popular options of lining colours for Christmas stockings. This is by no means all of your options and we have other colours on our blog which you can access via our website. It’s easy to find and once you are there, put a search in the top bar for ‘Fabric for your Christmas Stocking’, and lots will appear.

For UK stitchers, there is still time to send your Christmas stocking to us and have it back well before Christmas, but please send it sooner rather than later. If you will be sending from overseas, please contact us before posting so that we can check your return dates as well as any possible customs charges.

We have been chatting with lots of stitchers this week, explaining the reasons behind why we have an October stockings deadline. One of the reasons is that we never know until all the Christmas stockings arrive which fabric people will want for them. Everyone might choose red, navy, green, or perhaps we’ll have an orange year! We always think we are prepared with lots of stock, but we could get caught out if we run out of any colours.

Another reason which is hard to imagine after the months of drought conditions that we have had here in the UK, is that before long we will be swishing about in water again and the dreaded flood season will begin. We like to return all Christmas stockings as early as we can in December so they will arrive home safely.

Once the weather turns damper, drying time of canvases takes longer. We already have canvas boards on all the shelves over our kits and all along the back wall above our wool. Soon our office will become an incubator, possibly the kitchen too this year!

Good evening! As promised, and for all of you stitching away on a festive masterpiece, here are some of our fabric boards to help you decide on the colours for your tapestry. We look foward to seeing your stockings, robins, and perhaps some angels too.

Having made a large velvet order at the end of September, we got into a panic yesterday and ordered some more, focusing on Christmas colours.

We never know how many Christmas tapestries will be coming our way in the weeks before our deadline, or whether everyone will request the same fabric!

The colours here are all velvets, great for the outside of Christmas stockings and for both piping and backing of cushions. The Christmas stockings always have a cotton lining - we’ll show you some of those soon, along with sturdy cottons that we use for stockings, especially those going to warm climates where velvet may not be the first option.

There’s still time to stitch a special festive gift for a robin-loving friend or relative. Our Jingle Bell Robins can be stitched while catching up on some TV viewing or listening to a favourite audiobook. Take a peep in our Christmas category, link in bio ⬆️

In the summer, we welcomed Carol and Bridget when they came to choose fabric for their new grandson, Jude.

If my memory serves me correctly, Carol is Mum to Jude’s Dad, and Bridget is Mum to Jude’s Mum. Together, Carol and Bridget are a doting pair of grandparents 💙 ❤️

Carol has stitched many Jolly Red kits and is a clearly big fan of our Angels Christmas stockings, both Angel Skies in the boot shape and our original Angels in the longer shape. Jude’s Angels is the latest in Carol’s stitching bonanza.

Good morning and happy Sunday. It’s a lovely misty start today.

I do like Sunday mornings, especially ones like today when I’d made a raspberry bakewll cake before heading out with the office manager. We have lots of raspberries in the freezer. This is a delicious way to use them, and it also happens to be Mr JR’s favourite 🍰 The juice from the defrosted raspberries won’t be wasted as we’ll use it for a raspberry ripple icecream.

In woolly news, we’ll be in the workshop from 9.30-1.30pm today, so call on 01460 281111 if you need us. We have lots of Christmas stockings to take off their stretching boards and canvases to prepare for tomorrow - it’s that time of year!

Sharon and Jim came in recently to pick up their Christmas stocking that Sharon had stitched for granddaughter Mia.

Good evening, and three cheers for the weekend - a stitchy weekend! From our many phone conversations this week, we gather that many of you will be stitching your Christmas stockings.

Over the next week or so we will share our boards showing our velvet fabric to use on the outside of Christmas stockings and for cushions. We hope you’ll find them a useful reference if you can’t quite decide on which fabric to use for yours.

We’ll start with our blues which range from light blues to royal and electric blue, and navy.

For added inspiration, here’s a selection of blue-bordered tapestries from last year - Ellen’s Angels, David’s D for Dog, Ba-Ba-Bloom, and Dizzy Dogs and Beach Huts.

Happy sunny Monday! We hope you had a good weekend.

We suspect it was a party day yesterday for Jenny, as her granddaughter Luna celebrated her first birthday 🩷 🩵 Jenny stitched Noah’s Ark Sampler for baby Luna, and chose great colours and fabric for her making up. The orange piping pops out alongside the teal, a lovely combination.

Thank you for sending in your tapestries throughout the year. We are making the most of the sunshine to dry canvases as quickly as possible.

Good morning! Yesterday I went to one of my favourite places, the Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury.

There is a wonderful exhibition on at the moment called Cultural Connections which includes a huge handfelted shepherd’s cloak/ shelter called a kepenek by Gladys Paulus, a mosaic urn by Candace Bahouth, and a film by Helen Cannock. I didn’t spend anywhere near as much time in there as I would like to because I had a certain five-year-old boy with me, so I’ll be going back again.

There’s more to see in the Granary in the farmyard with work made by women from the Glastonbury Conversation Club.

The exhibition in the barn is on until 31st October, and the postcode for the museum is BA6 8DB.

Yes, it’s open on a Sunday, so head on over if you’ll be out and about, or make a note in your diary to visit. You can park onsite, and a year’s museum membership giving you unlimited visits is only £11.

The café is great too! I recommend the sausage rolls.

Good evening! Happy Friday and happy weekend if you’re turning off the tech. We have flowers today with Sally’s Summer Days Flowers and Jeanne’s Indian Summer.

As it’s conkers season, we couldn’t resist showing you Kim’s gorgeous pair of Conkers cushions which we made up in a combination of velvet and cotton fabric. The mossy green velvet and olive green cotton look great together and the cushions are so tactile with their soft fronts and crisp piping and backing.

Sally chose two greens for her Summer Days Flowers. Another lovely use of two greens, for a fresh feel.

Happy stitching if you’re having a cosy weekend. Unusually for me, I have my feet up already, resting my pesky knee. It’s getting better, but too slowly for my liking!
