Teddy's dream came true! 🏎
I am so pleased I was able to help make one of Teddy's biggest dreams come true!! Teddy spent the day with Mercedes F1 and Lewis Hamilton!
This post is written be Louise!
I can’t quite believe I’m typing this, but today we were invited to spent the day in the F1 paddock at Silverstone as VIP guests of the Mercedes Formula 1 team and meet Lewis Hamilton. This was arranged for Teddy as a special surprise as he loves Lewis Hamilton.
We were treated like royalty the whole day. We started in the Mercedes hospitality centre and enjoyed lots of yummy food and drink. Teddy was given Mercedes Lego, stickers and rubix cube. He spent most of the day in the hospitality centre making the lego car to show Lewis. Robert enjoyed walking up and down the paddock seeing all the drivers and the F1 commentators while I stayed with Teddy. Then we had such a lovely conversation with George Russell and Toto Wolff. They were so interested in Teddy and spent time taking to him about cars and Lego and then lots of time with us talking about Teddys diagnosis and how he was feeling. They were so generous with their time and also with taking photos.
Then after finishing the Lego car Teddy got to meet Lewis Hamilton. He was so lovely, kind and very attentive to Teddy. He also played cars with Teddy as Teddy had brought along his race track to show Lewis. Teddy then decided he wanted to give Lewis one of his cars and Lewis said that it would help bring him luck with the race this weekend. 🥰 Lewis then gave Teddy a signed photo of him and he also gave Teddy a Mercedes’ cap and signed it and wrote ‘my friend Teddy’. He was happy to pose for lots of photos with us and Teddy. Rob and I were very star struck but Lewis made us feel so comfortable and was happy to answer any questions we had. I think the photo shows how happy we all were!
After this we were then taken to the garage to see all the components of Lewis and George’s cars and we watched the mechanics start to put the cars together. We then watched from the pit lane too. It was amazing to be so close to the cars. Teddy even held Lewis Hamiltons seat before it was put in the car.
We then ended the day by going back to the hospitality centre to say thank you to Rosa (PR manager) and Charlotte who were so attentive to Teddy and us and made this day so special.
The biggest thanks have to go to Megan-georgia Moore and Melanie Ridgers for arranging this once in a lifetime surprise for Teddy (and us). You have made Teddy so happy to meet his favourite Formula 1 driver and we are so incredibly grateful that we got to experience this with him. ❤️
