ENCANTO CLOSING SATURDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER
In 2011 I made a very scary move and left my job as a lecturer to set up business next to my daughter's, soon to be, primary school. I wanted to be close to her, the school, her clubs and somehow strike a balance between buttering our bread and having family time. So, in July I took over Encanto and began renovations; it was very much a family affair, with dad helping out and baby Maretta and her little friends getting involved (mostly drawing on the walls).
The sleepless nights were wasted, Encanto did just great, with customers coming and staying for the duration. Soon I bought us a house, also a hop, skip and jump to Encanto and the school. Troon has always been kind to us and that walk or drive, along the promenade every morning and afternoon, was always a very friendly one. Home for 4.30 and dinner on the table for 5pm. There aren't many jobs afford us that luxury these days!
Mac the dog, joined us at the Encanto, to entertain Maretta after school, along with her colouring books and board games, completing our wee family business. Life could not have been any better!!!
There are too many happy times to recall and people to mention; the fundraisers, parties, catwalk shows and events, Paris buying trips and the daily belly laughs (you lot are a hoot). I can never thank you all enough for the ongoing support over the years. Because of you all Encanto has, well, did just great.
When you bought from our family business you helped me buy Maretta swimming lessons, piano lessons, horse riding lessons and flying trapeze, attend astronomy club, scouts, netball!! Put clothes on our backs and food on the table, we explored Scotland, Europe and beyond. It was the best move I could have made for that time. Please never underestimate the impact you make when you're buying from a small independant like mine!!!
The bumper sticker says, 'Everything you want is on the other side of Fear'. Well, it's the end of an era for me and time for another (scary) change. I'll still have a home in Troon, so if you see me, stop me (because I'm blind these days without my specs).
I've tried to contact customers to personally thank you all, sorry if I've missed you. I will close the shop for the last time on Saturday 30th September and hope to see you all before I go.
I'll be taking last orders this week for anyone who needs to top up their underwear drawer before I go. So be sure to let me know if you need anything quickly!!
Finally, huge gratitude to everyone who has been a part of my wee success story at Encanto and a very happy and fulfilling chapter in our lives here in Troon. You're all a part of my wee family's story that I'll never forget xx
