A quick speed optimisation of a WordPress landing page to help increase the conversion rate of a landing page. A 'C' grade to an 'A' grade.

Like an engine, your WordPress needs tuning for performance, especially if your aims include providing a positive user experience, reducing bounce rates, or improving search engine rankings.

This client was super pleased that I could get them from a 4.3 second load time to a 0.5 second load time and the page is already converting double what it was before. Easy wins and all that.

“I think I’ve been hacked”

Owning an unsecured WordPress website is leaving the front door unlocked. At some point someone will walk in and make unwanted alterations to your site.

In this case Japanese keyword spam was added to the homepage, hacking software was uploaded and phishing pages were added to the site to try and trick other users into giving up their personal data.

Thankfully the new client had spotted it quickly so we could get to work recovering the site, cleaning the database, removing all traces of hacking software and running the site through a security hardening process to reduce the chances of it happening again.

The site is now being actively monitored too as an extra precaution.

This morning we had a call from a business owner who'd been neglecting their WordPress updates for a few months. So a mischievous third party decided to take advantage and make some updates themselves.

This is damaging to both your business and personal reputation as well as your SEO. So always keep on top of your software updates - especially the security releases.

A few hours later the website has been cleaned, restored, updated and Google should remove the dodgy search results very soon. Hopefully before any permanent damage has been made.
