Your training plan is a guide - not a contract.

Some days, the strongest thing you can do is adapt.

Endurance isn’t built by blindly forcing sessions when your body is waving red flags. It’s built by knowing when to push - and when to pause.

A bad night’s sleep or cold creeping in…? Probably best to swerve that 2 hour Sunday run.

The best athletes aren’t the ones who never miss a session, they’re the ones who stay healthy enough to keep showing up.

Listen to your body. Adjust the plan.
Stay the course…

It’s almost time to go…. 🚀

You feel your heart starting to thump a little faster - breathing quickens as your mind and body begins to prime itself for the challenge ahead.

Not sure you ever lose sensation at the start line - and why would you want to. The question becomes - how do you learn to channel those ‘butterflies’ - into focus, intent and controlled intensity…

Whether it’s running a marathon or swimming in ice cold water, what we do know is this:

Motivation will get you started, strength and endurance will keep you going - but it’s mindset that will get you over the finish line.

We recently caught up with local ‘ice-swimmer’ Mel to find out just what level of resilience, determination and perseverance is required to compete at the highest levels of this sport.

Here she reflects on her recent experience during the Ice-Swimming Championships, where the pool surface had to be cleared of ice during the competition.

Expect more to follow - and don’t forget to have a quiet word with yourself the next time you complain about the local pool feeling a tad chilly!

You’ve missed a session? Don’t be too hard on yourself.

When life gets in the way, you’re gonna miss a session or two. It happens to the best of us. Just don’t let the negativity spiral.

Fitness isn’t built in one session - and it certainly isn’t lost one either. The strength and endurance you’ve developed is an accumulation of weeks and months of showing up. One missed day doesn’t put a dent in that.

The important thing is to not let it become a habit. Remember why you started, keep your goal in mind - and get back on the horse!
