The OC Freehouse Mirfield is running a raffle for The Kirkwood. We have donated a few prizes including a half day woodturning experience. Be sure to call in and get your tickets from the OC.

Our Kirkwood Pub Hop raffle is now live and there are some brilliant prizes up for grabs.

Tickets are just £1 each, with all the prizes being drawn over the Pub Hop weekend.

Maker of the Week: CJDesigns

This week we’re putting the spotlight on CJDesigns and her brilliant range of handmade crystal jewellery, gifts and artwork.

From bracelets and necklaces to crystal trees, charms and pieces designed around things like calm, protection, self love and new beginnings, there’s loads to discover on her display.

Everything is handmade with carefully chosen gemstones, so no two pieces ever feel quite the same.

Katie in full on teaching mode this morning at Yorkshire Makers!

It’s great to see the classroom properly up and running again and the lathe back in action.

There’s something really nice about being able to teach woodturning right here in the shop, whether you’re a complete beginner or just fancy giving something new a go.

Finally, the classroom is set up and we’re ready to start teaching woodturning again!

Classes here at Yorkshire Makers start again from tomorrow, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming both new and returning turners back into the classroom.

New dates have now been added to the Taylors Mirfield website, and lessons can also be booked with us in store.

It’s taken a little while to get everything moved, organised and ready, but we’re really pleased to finally be back teaching again.

We’re really pleased to have West Riding Soapworks as part of Yorkshire Makers.

Their range is full of beautifully made products that make a lovely little treat for yourself or a thoughtful gift for someone else. From soaps and scrubs to bath time favourites, everything looks and smells amazing.

If you haven’t had a proper look yet, next time you’re in pop over and have a browse. They’re one of those displays that’s very hard to walk past without picking something up.

One of our lovely Yorkshire Makers, Sweetman Candles 🕯️

Hand poured right here in Yorkshire, these candles come in a brilliant range of scents, from fresh and clean to warm and cosy.

They’re also really well priced:

Perfect for making the house smell amazing, treating yourself, or keeping tucked away for one of those “I need a present tomorrow” moments.

We’ve got a great selection in the shop now, so come in and have a sniff. Just be warned, choosing one is the difficult bit!

The little helper is back in the shop today… although not entirely by choice.

All dressed and ready for her first day back at school this morning, got all the way to the locked gates… only to discover she doesn’t actually go back until tomorrow.

So instead of lessons, she’s been put straight to work at Yorkshire Makers!

Current job: very seriously inspecting and sorting all the amazing creations from Craft & Crochet Emporium and Millyrose Emporium. It’s a tough job, but apparently someone has to do it.

Not quite the first day back she was expecting… but definitely more colourful!

BREAKING NEWS FROM OUTSIDE YORKSHIRE MAKERS…

The hole is being filled in.

After what feels like several series of Grand Designs: Pavement Edition, the barriers are finally starting to disappear and normal access to the shop is being restored.

No more obstacle course.
No more navigating around holes.
No more wondering whether you need a hard hat just to pop in for some sweets.

We’re still here, we’re open, and very soon you’ll once again be able to reach us without completing an NVQ in civil engineering.

We’d love to open today… but unless you fancy a bit of long jump to get through the front door, it’s probably best we don’t.

Due to essential electrical works taking place directly outside the shop, we’re unable to open today.

Apologies for the inconvenience. We’ll be back open as soon as the works allow.

On the plus side, the shop now comes with its own moat.
