Quilting Matters

Quilting Matters Quilting Matters provides stunning textiles, using high quality machine quilting, at reasonable prices.

I am a longarm quilter who quilts tops for others but I also work on individual commissions in both silk and cotton. Each project is priced on the basis of hours and work involved. Finished baby quilts are about £130, larger projects vary.

First one finished and the next one pinned on ready to go. I love my Statler/Gammill and am looking forward to learning about Creative Studio 7.0 at the Sugar Conference in Kansas City next month.

A happy customer and a lovely quilt ready for her to bind. Borders going on to another one tomorrow and then on the machine. I am enjoying being back in my studio!

I am finally back in my studio after a 4 month sabbatical in South America and the Antarctic....thank you to all my loyal clients who have waited patiently for me to get back. I now have a large pile of quilts to work on and the first one has just gone on Lily.

Quilt finished and collected and I am off on my travels to get surgery on my shoulder so will not be posting for the next week or two.

Lovely quilt has come in and will be going on the machine tomorrow and should be finished over the weekend once I have decided what to quilt it with.....something swirly as it is a very geometric quilt and the contrast will be good.

Finally back at work after a disastrous start to the year with a badly sprained wrist followed by intense vertigo that kept me flat on my back for nearly two months! Managed to get a quilt finished for a client and am pleased at the result.

My studio will be open all weekend as part of the Creative Arts Fair which encompasses the whole island this year. I will be there from 11am to 5pm every day. I look forward to any of you who want to visit and see what I do on my big Gammill/Statler machine.

Last day with Jacqueline de Jonge and I have no chance of finishing but at least I understand her technique a bit better. Hope I can remember what I am supposed to be doing once I get home!

Two steps forward, one step back and too much work for my stitch ripper!

Progress is slow and being visually dyslexic makes seeing the angles and correct placing off fabric challenging. Lots of swearing going on but several flying geese circles completed and stars started. Jacqueline is a wonderful and very patient teacher.

Time to engage my brain. Paper piecing has never been my strong point but I suspect that will change after a week with Jacqueline de Jonge. Her quilts are stunning but complex and challenging so watch this space for updates.

Thank goodness...I am back in the studio and fit to work after weeks in a soft cast trying to fix ligaments in my right hand. Painful and being very right handed, I became pathetically useless. I am finishing off various bits of work for clients and am just delighted to be back working.

At last I am able to do some work, basted one quilt today and another to do tomorrow and then a lovely Liberty lawn trip around the world to quilt all before Friday. My life has been turned upside down for the last few days as one of my cats has been desperately ill and in the Veterinary Hospital...hope he has turned a corner.
