Getting dressed shouldn’t be another thing to worry about.

Behind the scenes, the last few weeks have been a little challenging.

But one thing I haven’t had to worry about is what to wear.

And it sounds superficial, but worrying about what to wear every day can be exhausting.

When life feels busy or overwhelming, having clothes that you know work for you can remove one more decision from your day.

Because when you know your colours, your style and the pieces you genuinely enjoy wearing, getting dressed becomes easier.

And that's the part I love most about what I do: helping people create a wardrobe that supports their life, rather than adding more decisions to their day.

A question that came up at my colour talk last week was whether changing your hair colour can affect the colours that suit you.

The short answer is yes, it can.

In a tonal colour analysis consultation, your hair colour is one of the features I take into account, alongside your skin tone and eye colour.

If your hair colour has changed over time, it can affect the shades that suit your overall features.

Going from brunette to blonde, red to grey, or embracing your natural grey can all change how colours work with you and how you wear them.

That’s why I always assess your features as they are now, rather than how you looked when you were younger.

It’s not about finding a completely different version of yourself. It’s about understanding how colour works with you today, so that you can feel more confident wearing it.

If you’re curious about your colours, a colour analysis consultation is the best way to explore what works for you.

Knowing what to leave behind.

If there's one thing I've learnt over the last 15 years of helping women with their wardrobes, it's that saying yes to everything won't build the wardrobe you want.

Often, what I'm actually helping clients find is a better understanding of what suits them and what deserves a place in their wardrobe.

Sometimes it's the colour. Sometimes it's shape, style, proportions or fabric. Sometimes it's recognising that a trend just isn't for you, even though it looks great on somebody else.

Most wardrobes don't need more clothes. They need more clarity.

Confidence doesn't come from owning more. It comes from making better decisions about the clothes you buy and wear.

Linen is everywhere at this time of year.

Whilst it can be a great fabric, it's also one of the things people often buy because they like the idea of it.

Lightweight.
Natural.
Breathable.
Perfect for summer.

It sounds perfect, right?

Yet the challenge with linen isn't any of those things. It's that none of them guarantee you'll actually enjoy wearing it.

Some people love the relaxed, slightly crumpled look that linen naturally creates. Others spend the day feeling untidy and wishing they'd chosen something that didn't look like it needed an iron.

Which proves my point: just because something is popular doesn't mean it will feel right for you.

The good news is that linen has come a long way. There are now more structured styles and linen blends that stay crisper, even in warm weather.

Modern fabrics often blend linen with fibres such as viscose, polyester or silk to reduce creasing and change the way the garment hangs and feels.

Which is why understanding what suits you can help prevent those mistake-buys.

If you don't like creasing, check the fabric label. Pure linen will crease.

If you love crispness and structure, look at the construction of the garment too. Will it hold its shape and work with your body lines?

The same applies to the colour, shape and style.

Is it really for you?

It's the difference between choosing something you genuinely love wearing and something you feel you should love because everyone else seems to.
(Or because it's easy to sew...)

Interestingly, all of the linen pieces featured here are actually linen blends rather than 100% linen. Which probably tells you something about my own preference for a little less creasing! 😂

Sometimes, even when you know your colours and you're using your swatches, translating them into real life can feel hard.

You find yourself hesitating more than you should.

Not because anything is wrong, but everyday decisions can feel different in practice.

Lighting. Fabric. Patterns. Online shopping. Menopause 😳 can all make colour choices feel less straightforward.

I was reminded of this recently with Alison (huge thanks for allowing me to share the photos).

Getting confident with your colours can take practice. Sure, you've got your swatches and my seasonal shopping updates to make it a bit easier.

But confidence often comes from seeing colours in different ways and learning how they work in real life.

A colour in a block can feel very different to the same colour in a print. Different fabrics, textures and levels of contrast can all change how a colour looks and feels.

Getting colour confident isn't just about knowing your colours. It's learning how to recognise and wear your version of those colours.

I was working away in Manchester recently, living out of a suitcase, it really made me think about this....

As we head towards summer, the same conversations start to come up with clients.

“I need some new holiday clothes, but what shall I buy?”
“How do I stop overpacking?”
“I just want everything to go together!”

Many women who say they struggle getting dressed day-to-day are actually better at packing for a holiday.

Without realising it, they become more intentional. They think in outfits, colour combinations, versatility, and how things will actually be worn.

They choose pieces that work together, avoid random items that don’t really fit, and tend to wear far more of what they take away with them.

It's something I see frequently, and I was reminded of it again while I was working away.

The idea of opening your wardrobe and feeling like everything coordinates sounds incredibly appealing, especially when life gets busy, or your shape, lifestyle or confidence changes.

It's also why many women feel frustrated - it feels like everyone else has cracked the code - but their wardrobe doesn't feel quite so easy.

Yet, your holiday wardrobe *does* feel easier to wear than your wardrobe at home.

Not because the clothes are different, but because there’s less overwhelm. It's been chosen with more intention and purpose behind each piece. You have more clarity and less overwhelm making life feel easier. And maybe the sunshine helps too 🌞 ✨️

How many times have you bought something because it looked great on someone else or online, only to leave it hanging in your wardrobe with the tags still on?

When you know what actually suits and works for you, it makes spotting your perfect pieces far easier so you can ignore the rest.

No guesswork. No wasted money. No more guilt pieces. Just effortless style.

One minute it's sunglasses, sandals and summer dresses trying to survive the heatwave, the next it's thunderstorms and wondering if you'll need an umbrella and a jacket!

The UK weather sure makes outfit planning feel frustrating and put your wardrobe to the test!

Wow, it's been a hot one! 🌞

There's nothing like the temperature rising to shine a light on clothes that really don't work for this weather!

Here's what I avoid when it's hot 🥵

➡️ heavy or weighty fabrics
➡️ clingy fabrics
➡️ dark colours
➡️ layers

As soon as the weather heats up, most people naturally start reaching for clothes that feels lighter and easier to wear. But, comfort plays a part in your summer style too!

Have you abandoned parts of your wardrobe this weekend?
