Battle Horse Specialist Saddlery & Leatherwork 🐎 Design & Concept | A decade of experience in the film industry 🎬 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Armourer in training! ⚒️

After spending time in her teenage years working with horses and camels in Spain and Austria, Shelley returned to the UK to train as a saddle maker. Once she gained her Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Saddle, Harness and Bridle making she went on to specialise in saddlery and leatherwork for the film industry, a path that she recognised would suit her creative flare. Since she started working in

the industry in 2015, Shelley has since worked on over 30 large feature films such as Ridley Scot's 'Napoleon', Rings of Power, Wonder Woman 1984 and Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker. Shelley has worked at HOD level on Ridley Scot's most recent production, managing a team of 20 talented saddlers and leatherworkers along with outsourcing work to a network of saddlers across the UK. With a keen eye for detail and design, she also turns her hand to design, concept art along with sculpting, metalwork, woodwork and painting. Shelley is also the Director of her own limited company, Battle Horse Ltd.

Jack of all trades, Master of one! 🥂

Bit late to the party with this, but those that know me will know that I've never been good at doing things the conventional way - thankfully, a trait that has at least lead to me having an interesting and varied career so far! 😅

Incredibly grateful to the Society of Master Saddlers for recognising the thousands of hours I have spent developing my skills on the bench over the past 12 years! 🫡

Massive thanks to those who have stood by me and shown nothing but support and encouragement throughout this journey. 🙏

Many exciting things ahead! ✨️

Had a lovely evening at the National Saddlery Competition at Saddlers Hall in London last night, catching up with fellow saddlers and meeting some new faces.

Although I didn't have time to go all out and enter the classes I originally planned, I did manage to chuck an entry in the Martingale Attachment class and was pleased to be given a Premium Award!

Well done to all the competitors. It was incredibly inspiring to see such a high standard of work on display yet again!

Keeping this bad-ass stunt rider ( ) safe in the saddle with a new trick girth and girth straps after they had a hammering last season at the shows! 🐎🔥

A reminder for you nutters that like to hang upside down off your horses to do your saddle checks! 😉

A massive thank you to Tropical Forest Ltd, Wainrights Bee Farm, for sponsoring my fundraiser workshops through providing the beeswax for waterproofing and sealing our leather drinking flasks. Not only were they kind enough to give me a tour of their factory in Ceredigion, but they also gave me a couple of jars of their exquisite honey! How special! 🐝 🍯

Fancy learning how to make a leather drinking flask?
