You may have noticed that I haven’t posted here in a while. This is a hard post for me to write, because I have loved setting up Sewing with Sofia.

It’s what got me into sustainability and sustainable sewing. It’s what taught me about Instagram and the wonderful communities that it houses. It’s what brought me to meet so many amazing, talented people!

But I have been struggling with this account for a while now. When the pandemic hit, I was about to invest in ethical manufacturing to produce my bags at a larger scale. Obviously, the way things have gone, I’m glad I wasn’t quite ready to do that.

The pandemic forced a lot of small businesses to pivot or close, and honestly I think I came off lightly. At the end of June I started , based on the knowledge base I gained through Sewing with Sofia, and I have loved pivoting to a more educational and activist role.

Of course I will never stop sewing - in fact, I’m hosting a sustainable sewing workshop this weekend! (Check for that, it’s free and live). But my days of selling backpacks are, at least for now, at an end. I simply don’t have the time and energy to keep this account going.

I will be leaving my backpacks on sale for a couple of weeks, just in case anyone wants to buy one. You can always DM me if you’re interested, or follow the link in my description to my Etsy shop. I’ll also leave this account here for a while, to make sure everyone has time to read this post.

I’ll be posting my personal sewing projects as and when they happen on , as well as lots of sustainable fashion content. Come join me over there! This isn’t really a goodbye, more of a “see you soon”.

I have news for you!!
All items in my Etsy shop are discounted! I really want to do my best to make sustainable fashion as accessible as possible (which also paying myself for my time). I really appreciate the support in this time, and I love hearing from all of you who have bought one of my backpacks or one of the new backpack kits!
My activism/education work has moved over to but I still love sewing and want to promote that as a sustainable skill, as well as my own little small business. So head over to my Etsy, have a look, and if you have a unique project in mind, message me! I'll have more time for bespoke stuff now :)

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I posted on here, and some of you know that's because I've been working on a new exciting project behind the scenes!
I'm so excited to introduce to you , i.e. me. I wanted a space where I could openly talk about fast and sustainable fashion, about activism, a space where I could call out brands, express the strong opinions that, up till now, I have saved only for my friends.
I would really love your support with this new venture - Sewing with Sofia will be taking a back seat, but I still have backpacks on sale and my new sewing patterns as well, so don't worry!

I'm sorry I've been gone for so long!
There's lots happening behind the scenes that I just can't tell you about yet... Have you been keeping up with my sewing room renovation? We're turning it into an art deco inspired studio (a small hint to my future plans) 😊
My microphone finally arrived yesterday so I'm going to record the voiceover for as soon as possible to get the pattern out to you!
