“I bet she’ll be pretty!”
They say at her cot
I wonder what this means
So I ask, “Pretty what?”
Pretty bold, pretty bright?
But they just mean her face
And they hope she’ll behave

But I hope my daughter
Doesn’t do as she’s told
As long as she’s safe
I hope my daughter is bold
She questions the world
She fights as she’ll stand
She knows she has power
As great as any man

She is sporty or creative
She has so much to say
She is kind and inquisitive
And changes the world each day

When she becomes a teen
I know the world will seem tight
With a small box to fill
And then she’ll be “right”
I hope she knows her beauty
Doesn’t come from her face
That being a woman
Doesn’t mean knowing your place

And I hope she is happy
And fights for her choice
I hope that my daughter
Always uses
Her voice.

SWIPE for a glitch in the matrix 👀

Not sure why, but dressing Lily in Fred’s old clothes and recreating special photos is a lot of fun!

⚠️Christmas is SOLD OUT already. 🎅🏼

It’s crazy isn’t it? Most kids’ Christmas attractions went on sale recently - everything from meeting Santa at the garden centre, to Christmas pantomimes, to reindeer walks. 🦌

And already, all the weekend tickets for nearly all of the events I’ve looked at, are sold out. Some on the same day they went on sale. 🤯

It feels like you’re just recovering financially from all the summer activities, and while autumn is only just arriving, Santa is booked out. 😲

We’re fortunate enough that we’ve been able to book the things we wanted to do. But I know so many families won’t have been able to. ☹️

So, who’s booked a Christmas event already?

Oh , the places you’ll go!
🧡

I can’t wait to watch you grow together.

I can’t wait for a day in the park building snowmen.

I can’t wait lazy Sundays watching movies under a big blanket.

I can’t wait for our bed to overflow when you both squeeze in uninvited.

I can’t wait to watch you hug and make up after your first argument.

I can’t wait for Christmas, watching your faces light up when you realise HE’S BEEN!

I can’t wait for long winter walks holding your hands.

I can’t wait for it all!

🧡
Freddie Raymond and Lily Joyce - You are everything I look forward to. I loved you yesterday, I love you today, and I’ll love you always, with every beat of my heart.

Genuinely a little apprehensive to send the kids back to preschool. They’ve been so happy and healthy over summer. I don’t want to go back to the misery we went through before we broke up - back to back illnesses. Praying that the time off has helped to strengthen their little bodies and immune systems and we can have fewer bugs this school year. 🤞🏼

Even though I turned my work alarm off 6 weeks ago, I’ve woke up every morning this summer before 6am. I can count on one hand the number of nights both babies have slept through.

After the longest day, feeling dead on your feet, you can’t collapse on the sofa. You have two little people to watch, feed, comfort, play, descalate. More tantrums than you can count.

You never really have a moment that’s just yours. You have to be constantly alert. Craving a meal without someone pulling on your trouser leg. Craving 10 minutes on the sofa without someone crying. Craving to see your reflection without snot stained T-shirts, a messy mum bun and no makeup.

It’s cleaning your house constantly, but your house is never clean. Its counting the hours until bed time then spending an hour cuddling and rocking ‘cause they Just. Won’t. Sleep. It’s looking forward to a moment to yourself but being too tired to appreciate it. It’s finding yourself close to tears, because it’s HARD.

It’s all day every day. It’s exhausting.

But somehow its worth it. It’s all gloriously imperfect. Knowing that for your little people, YOU are their safe space - the comfort they choose above all else. There’s sloppy kisses and “I love you’s”, and there’s baby’s first steps and hazy 3am snuggles. There’s giggles that sound like home, and moments that you just know will become your best memories.

I wouldn’t trade this for all the
money in the world.

⛔️ Do Not ⛔️ ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives…

• Such striving may seem admirable, but it is a way of foolishness.
• Help them instead to find the wonder and the marvel of an ordinary life.
• Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears.
• Show them how to cry, when pets and people die.
• Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand.
• And make the ordinary come alive for them.

✅ The extraordinary will take care of itself.

- Words by William Martin

👉🏻 Do you agree? Or do you think we should encourage children to dream big and strive for the extraordinary?

👇🏼Where is Lil’s dress from?

Lindex] of course! (Ad)

🧡 They’re one of our favourite clothing companies because of their initiative for sustainable fashion and their promise to make positive changes for future generations. They are also SO passionate about empowering women and let’s also not forget the obvious - the clothes are beautiful!

⚠️ Some of My favourite things about clothes:

1️⃣ - the trousers / leggings have a really clever internal elastic system which means you can tighten the waistband without draw strings.

2️⃣ Lots of the baby grows have a double set of fastening poppers, so you can adjust the sizing as your baby grows, or ensure a perfect fit for babies with long bodies!

3️⃣ Most of the sleepsuits HAVE A ZIP instead of poppers. (If you know, you know!)

👉🏼 Have you tried Lindex] yet?

We survived a week’s camping holiday! Tips ⬇️

This was our first ever camping trip with the littles (1 years old and 3 years old), so were no experts, but I’ll share tips I found helped run things smoothly!

1️⃣ Pack for all weather. Especially when camping in the UK - the weather forecast was literally changing daily and we needed everything from swim costumes and sun hats to thick fleeces.

2️⃣ Get Electric hook up. You need electric with littles. Electric items to take include - an electric cool box (for milk etc), a fan heater/cooler - tents can be cold at night but nap times during the day could be hot! Double electric hob for cooking, and a kettle is also very useful!

3️⃣ Windbreakers - pack enough windbreakers to make an ‘enclosure’ around the entrance of your tent. This was useful for our 1 year old - it meant she could play outside but couldn’t escape to far while our backs were turned!

4️⃣ Take your parents - ok so this sounds silly. But my mum and dad stayed at the same campsite in a campervan. We ate at theirs every night and they were available to look after children so we could clean, or nap! It’s not an option for everyone but it certainly made out experience easier to enjoy!

Cuddle with them. Let them sleep in your arms. Laugh with them and soak it all up. The tiny toes as and the infectious laughter. Embrace them as if the world were to end today… because tomorrow they will be grown and you’ll feel like you wish you could carry them in your arms just one more time… or wake up to find them snuggled under your covers.

Motherhood feels fleeting, ever-changing. And one day your living room will be clean and quiet. There’ll be no sticky finger prints on the windows and no tiny socks in the wash. You won’t hear “mummy” and 486 times before breakfast, and you’ll have first pick of what you watch on the tele.

You can’t be present all the time. Don’t beat yourself up for that. And sometimes you’re too exhausted to be fully present. But when you can, cherish those special moments and hug them just a little longer 🧡

I still remember that I went to bed and couldn’t sleep. I was 10 days past my due date. At midnight, Freddie had an accident, so I got up and changed his sheets then lay in his bed with him until he fell back asleep.

I remember thinking how blissfully happy I was to be safe in our home, cuddling our son. Maybe those happy hormones got things started.

At 3am I had my first contraction, and 30 minutes later I was in some serious pain. After an hour we began to panic that things seemed to be too intense, too quickly, so we headed to the hospital.

My Mum and Dad weren’t able to get to our house in time to look after Freddie, so despite it being around 4am, Josh asked our neighbour if he would mind helping out. Thank goodness he did!

My waters broke all over joshs car seat, while driving to hospital, as I clung to the head rest on my knees, unable to sit down. I was wheeled from the carpark into the hospital while Lily was on her way out and a nurse yelled at me to stop pushing… but my body wouldn’t listen!

I jumped onto the bed and within minutes, at 4:30am, I was holding Lily in my arms. Couldn’t have timed it better really! 🤣🤷🏽‍♀️

Lily Joyce, now you are one! A year old! We thought we knew what it meant to have a baby, but you have suprised us at every turn. You are different to your brother in every way and we couldn’t be prouder of the little girl you have become. Your beauty is far more than that sweet little face of yours, or that smile that brightens the room.

We love you. 🧡
