Historically used to treat snakebites (specifically Adder bites) and insect stings, leading to the name - Adder's Flower. I found some pretty (Silene dioica) on my walk today.
Culpepper (The 17th Century ) suggested decoctions of Red Campion for internal bleeding, kidney disease, and digestive issues.
Traditional preparations were used to soothe rashes, sores, and infections using the plants anti-inflammatory properties.
