The Three Counties rare breed show was last Sunday. The Lincolns had a small but perfectly formed group of entries. Shadow Annwn took the championship with Anna's in-wool ewe was reserve. The show was really well organised for the rare breeds. Big thanks to Carole for her excellent judging.

For those of you who have wondered what is under the enormous Lincoln fleece here are some before and after photos of Annwn who was sheared this morning. The shearer is recovering!

The Pelham flock of Black Lincolns has been to the Heathfield show
Hannah looks after them with the help of her assistants. Here is her report.
Our coloured Lincoln ram shadow xcalibur came 3rd in a strong class of aged rams! We came 2nd with a trio of coloured lincolns, xcaliber and 2 shearling ewes. Then one of our shearling ewes came 5rd in any other longwool and 3rd in wool on the hoof. We had a lot of people commenting on the breed and they hadn’t seen them before! We will also be taking them to kent county show.
Well done to all involved.

Lincolns have a reputation for being a bit slow and steady, but given the right incentive you would be surprised how quick they can move. Bossy, in front of course, is 7, while Smudge and Princess are 6. These are Kathy's girls, looking as lively as ever.

The best laid plans of mice and men.......
We never lamb our ewe lambs and like to finish lambing by mid March. nothing new this year except a ewe lamb and an unexpectedly agile ram had other ideas. Fortunately a mild winter and very fit ewe presented us a gorgeous ewe lamb in mid April. She's growing well and mum hasn't lost condition so not too much....ganging aft aglay (thanks to Robbie Burns). hope everyone else's lambs are doing well.

Black lambs are always beautiful, but this group from Ros's Onyx flock are especially so. Shadow and Pelham ewes covered by the famous Ebony Coal give these lambs a great pedigree.

Kathy's black girls decided it was raining and they preferred to be in their shelter.
They are not just pretty faces, as when Kathy wants 33 year old Barney the horse to come in (he's a bit deaf) she just calls in the "sheepies" and Barney follows them. Definitely "Assistance" sheep.

A great get together at Robin Coopers farm. We had the chance to look at the different blood-lines in the black flock, and talk all things black Lincoln.
Robin had organised a great set-up and there where lots of good rams to talk about.
The youngsters had an enjoyable time too.
67. What a set up
70 Stainless steel buckets and fresh hay!
72 an Ebony ram
77/80 skylark ram lambs, notice the variation in fleeces.
83, Lincolns are docile rams, with a good shepherd.
