I’ve faced a lot of criticism throughout my corsetry journey. It’s probably impossible to make and promote corsets for 20 years without meeting a few haters along the way.
I’ve heard plenty of ridiculous comments, but one of the funniest is that my corsets aren’t handmade because I use a sewing machine 😁
As if simply giving someone a sewing machine would magically enable them to create a corset. That’s not how it works. A machine is just a tool - it’s guided by my hands, my knowledge, and years of experience mastering this craft.
And beyond the machine sewing itself, there is still an incredible amount of handwork involved: flossing, hand-stitched eyelets, cutting and inserting corset bones, fitting, finishing details, and countless other steps that require skill, patience, and precision.
At the end of the day, handmade doesn’t mean «»made without tools.»» It means the piece is created by a person, shaped by their expertise, decisions, and craftsmanship at every stage of the process.
Every corset I make carries hundreds of small choices, years of practice, and a piece of my passion for this art. And no machine can replace that ✨🖤
