Today we celebrate the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day in Guernsey. We have all grown up with the stories of both those who stayed and experienced the occupation and those who were evacuated. My father remained in Guernsey and my mother was evacuated. Two very different experiences but neither would want it to be repeated.
This photo taken in 1942, Didsbury, is of my maternal great grandparents, Levi and Emma, with Levi’s brother Tom seated. Levi is wearing his guernsey which was part of his daily uniform. Sadly neither man survived to return to their beloved island.

What’s in a name? 🌿

Our name Le Courriqua stems from feudal times, when the island was divided into fiefs. Originally just three, these were gradually subdivided over time.

Le Courriqua fief is a small patch of land — a handful of fields overlooking Fort Grey — which we are incredibly fortunate to call our own.

Our pet flock spend their days here, peacefully grazing and completely oblivious to the breathtaking views that surround them.

Le Courriqua perfectly captures what we are about — rooted in the land, shaped by place, heritage, and quiet intention.

Our Pronunciation:
Le Cor-ree-ka

Hoof care & future careers 🐑

Robert and Isla have been busy this morning giving our flock a little well-deserved TLC — starting from the ground up with hoof care.

Moments like these are what Le Courriqua is all about. It’s not just about producing beautiful knitwear, but about nurturing the skills, knowledge, and passion behind it.

We’re committed to encouraging young people to explore the many pathways within our industry — from animal husbandry to fibre production and beyond. At the very least, we hope to shine a light on the opportunities that exist right here on our doorstep.

Because every stitch starts with care🧶
