What your footwear says about you to women (3)

7. FLIP-FLOPS

Most women don’t dig guys who wear flip-flops all that much. But with that said, most women also understand why guys wear them. Comfort is important after all. However, the one thing that women don’t understand — ever — is if you wear socks with them.

“A guy who wears flip-flops is a cool and relaxed dude. I grew up by the beach in San Diego, so flip-flops are part of your everyday uniform. It would be weird if you never wore flip flops in California — like, you definitely have something to hide. There are a few no-nos when it comes to flip-flops, though. No wearing socks with your flip-flops, EVER. And finally, a big pet peeve is when guys try to do the whole 'dressing formal and wearing flip-flops' thing with a suit — NOT OK," says Alejandra Boggiano, swimwear designer.

8. VANS

Vans and other skate shoes have long been the epitome of what guys of a certain type consider cool. But what do women of a certain type think of a guy who wears them?

"When I was 14 or 15, I lusted hard after guys who wore Vans and all the classic sk8r boi garb. My weakness was dudes who sported eyebrow rings and, of course, played their pain away in some unimaginative garage band. Now when I look down and see Vans, I run the other way," says Lila Seidman, culture writer.

What Your Choice Of Footwear Says About You To Women

When it comes to expressing your personal style, shoes might not be the first thing you think about. But it is the first thing women notice when they see you. Back in the days, I dated a girl who used to say, “It’s all in the shoes”. Her theory was that she could pretty much tell anything about a guy based on the shoes he wore. A guy could be handsome and charming, but if he was wearing a pair of crocs she would run for the hills. Knowing women can be as shallow as anyone else is a hard thing to face, but quite often it is true, and the shoes men wear can turn a woman off (or on) in a matter of seconds.

You might be working out every day in the gym, eating right, dropping $100 for the perfect hairstyle, and have an impeccable wardrobe. But none of it matters if you forgot to pay attention to one important thing: your shoes. We know that you love your favorite pair of kicks or boots, but we also know you like to make a positive first impression as well. With that in mind we got women to reveal what they think about you based on your choice of footwear.

9. TIMBERLANDS
Whether you are into hip-hop music or you like hunting and fishing with the boys, Timberlands are always going to be a relatively safe choice when it comes to footwear. Most women agree.

“A guy who wears Timberlands cares about his appearance from head-to-toe and intentionally puts an outfit together, he also probably cares about other stuff too, like what he eats, where he vacations, and what car he drives. A pair of Timberland Wodehouse chukkas says he's not dining at Applebees, going to Vegas for vacation, and driving around in a brand-new red corvette," says Kami Gray, stylist.

16 Summer Fashion Tricks to Keep You From Feeling Like a Sweaty Disaster.

1. Keep your clothes loose. The looser, the better. The less fabric you have actually touching your body, the cooler you will be. Believe it or not, a loose and and flowing maxi dress will keep you cooler than a pair of shorts and a skintight tank.

2. Skip the padded bra in favor of a soft, unlined bralette. Three inches of foam padding + a hot summer day = major b**b sweat.

3. Avoid flimsy fabrics if you don't want your clothes to stick to your body. Lightweight fabrics are great for hot weather, but they need to have a little structure so that they don't just cling to your body the second you start to sweat.

4. Layer with open-weave knits. That way you will be able to feel every glorious, cooling breeze.

5. Choose clothes in natural fabrics. Cotton, for instance, is much more breathable than polyester or rayon. It's also better at absorbing sweat and dries faster, which means you won't feel sweaty as long as you would if your clothes were made of synthetic fabric.

6. Take a nice, hot shower to lower your body temperature, and wash off any dirt and dead skin cells that could be making you hotter. A cold shower might feel more satisfying in the moment, but your body will react by actually raising your internal temperature. You'll find yourself sweating again before you've even left the house.

7. Make sure your clothes are as fresh and clean as you are. Rewearing your clothes between washes is a great way to avoid doing laundry, but even light wear leaves dirt, sweat, skin cells, and cosmetics trapped in the fibers of your clothes, which makes them less breathable and you hotter.

8. Avoid embellishments — particularly heavy embellishments like beading or anything made of metal. Embellishments weigh your clothes down so they are closer to your skin, trapping body heat. They're also just another layer between your skin and the next cooling breeze.

9. Bring shade with you wherever you go by wearing a wide-brimmed hat or carrying a lightweight, woven scarf in your bag. Drape the scarf over your shoulders or head whenever you feel like you are getting a bit too much sun. It's so lightweight that you'll barely feel it.

10. Only wear unlined jackets, skirts, and dresses. Not only is a lining one more layer between your skin and the air, it's often synthetic, which mean it won't breathe well and will leave you feeling like you are walking around inside your own private sauna.

11. Leave your backpack at home in favor of a small crossbody or tote. The last thing you want on a hot day is a huge backpack stuck to your back, making you sweat. Take this opportunity to clean out your bag and get back to basics, since the less stuff you carry around, the less you will exert yourself, and the less sweaty you will become as a result.

12. Wear socks. Sandals might seem like the most logical way to stay cool, but open shoes mean dirty feet, which mean hot feet. Socks help absorb your sweat and keep your feet feeling cool and clean. There are more sweat glands on the soles of your feet than any other area of your body, and socks protect your shoes from absorbing your foot sweat, making them last longer.

13. Use a scarf to keep your hair off your neck. A small cotton scarf is great for absorbing sweat, whether you use it to tie your hair up or wear it around your neck with your hair down. Soak it in some cold water before you put it on for an extra cooling kick.

14. Cover up to protect your skin from the sun and keep cool. Direct sunlight not only damages your skin, it raises your body temperature.

15. Stick to light colors. Dark colors absorb light and make you that much hotter while light colors reflect light and help keep you cool.
