Lord Ganesha and his brother Kartikeya raced around the world to win a divine, magical mango gifted by Sage Narada. While Kartikeya used his swift peacock to fly across the globe, Ganesha cleverly realized his tiny mouse could not compete. Instead, he walked in three circles around his parents, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Ganesha argued that because his parents were his entire universe, circling them was equivalent to traveling around the world. Touched by his profound wisdom and deep devotion, Shiva and Parvati awarded Ganesha the magical fruit.
